Aaron Spends First Spry Gig in Squad Car
On Friday, December 13th 2002, as most of Spry was arriving at the Red Sea to play their first gig, trombone player Aaron Stoehr and his roommate Chris were sitting in a squad car.
"Chris was a little nervous I think, but I just kept thinking, 'If I get out of here in time, this is going to be a great gig.' Police cars are good luck for our band."
Apparently, unbeknownst to Aaron, the DMV gave him the wrong license plates. When the Minneapolis police spotted this unfortunate error, they were quick to throw Aaron and Chris into their car and tow Aaron's.
"It actually makes me happy to know that the police department is keeping fraudulent people off the streets. Sure, it cost me $200, but that's a small price to pay for safety. And let's face it, safety is priceless. If I had hit someone in my car with the wrong license plates, well, who knows what would have happened. Probably something much worse than if I had hit someone with the correct license plates, that's for sure!
When Chris, Aaron's roommate, was asked to comment, he was reportedly still in the squad car. More on that story later.
