Eric was the guy who helped the Puafua band get started. He was at one point a "Good Guy" and so was his buddy who was in the February band. One of Puafua's first real gigs, and our first gig on the main stage at 1st Ave. we owe to Eric's buds in February.
So Eric has been there from the beginning, and all the way through he has been the auxilary man. Even when I first started jamming with the guys back in '97, Eric would be there picking up whatever instrument the tunes called for: percussion of every sort, trumpet, trombone, didgeredoo, guitar -- you name it. He's not a "trained" musician, but he does have a cool ability to pick an instrument up and start making music happen. In fact, some of those first horn parts Dylan and I transcribed were directly from the stuff Eric was playing. So there's definitely a natural ability there.
But I always say that I feel better at a gig or at a party when Eric shows up. He's a very down-to-earth guy and he is funny and laid back. It's nice to have somebody around who puts your mind at ease. And that's Eric: socially and musically. We never have to worry because he fills in a lot of the extra colors. Listen to the "Boosh" CD. A lot of those extra colors you hear are from Eric.
