BNSF Northown Yard in Minneapolis (Jan. 2001)

This is the southern holding area of the yard. The skyline of Downtown Minneapolis can be seen in the background of some of the images. All pictures were taken from the St. Anthony Parkway bridge that crosses the yard. The thumbnails link to larger versions (600x400) of the images. Believe me, it was not as cold as it looks...

Pulling the last loaded hoppers from the arrival track to clear the
track for the next string of hoppers to be dropped of.

Passing manifest train, while the coal train power waits for the switcher to clear the track
ahead. The manifest is lead by 7128, followed by 2956 6181 (SD9!!!), and 8003.
