We present the Club's activities for 2003-2004.
Change of Gavel Event.
On July 6, 2003 the Change of Gavel Event between Lions Abraham Markelevich ( outgoing president) and Zully Marcovich (incoming president)took place in Tel Aviv at the China Court Restaurant, with the presence of all the members of our Club and numereous guests, especially the representative of our District Cabinet Lion Shimshon Marron VDG and his wife Lion Hadasa and Lion Shimshon Zelviguer PDG and his wife.
The Change of Gavel Ceremony was directed by Lion Shimshon Zelviguer and the classical speaches for the ocasion where delivered by the outgoing president, the rep. of the District and finally by the incoming president; sll the event was done in a very friedly mood.
After the Gavel Ceemony, presents and flowers where given to outstanding Club Memberss and guests.
Finally, a chineese dinner was served.

In the International Lions Convention in Denver, Colorado, the Pins of our Club received First Prize in the International Pin Contest.Click on the image to view the page where the announcement was made.
Our Club visits The Israel Guide Dog Center for the Blind.
On August 8, a large group of our Club's members, our children, grand children and friends, jeaded by our newly installed president, Lion Zully Marcovich, visited the Israel guide Dog Center for the Blind located in Bet Oved, near the city of Rehovot.
The school is supported by Givatayim Lions Club and among its main collaborators, PPDDGG Rafi Soskin and Shuka Tamir, present during th evisit with their respective wives also Lions.
The welcome words, introduction, history and description of the school's techniques, where given by a blind with its guide dog that he got in the school and that together with the instructors, acompanied the visitors through the school premises.
A very emotive moment was when the children and those of us that felt like children, where permited to enter the cage of the dogs and play with them.

On September 2, 2003,Lions Moshe and Shoshana Barbaras visited Martinez Lions Club during their stay in Buenos Aires.

On Sept. 1, they where invited for dinner to Lion Laura de Szakiel of Lomas de Zamora Lions Club, our Twin Club. Also where present, President Lion Ruben M. Pafumi and wife, Secretry Lion Nora Torres de Sassali and husband and Lions Juan Carlos and Marta.

As during her stay no meetting of our Club was held, our members met her in three ocasions:
1) Lions Touvia (Teddy) Goldstein, Abraham Markelevich and Boris Fliman had coffee with her at the Apropo Restaurant in Ramat Gan,
2) The above took her to the Changing of Authorities Ceremony of Holon Dikla LC where she had the oportunity to meet israeli Lions, included DG Lion Zvika Lubovich and
3)Dinner at the Yotvata Restaurant in Tel Aviv, facing the Mediteranean Sea, where she met a delegation of our Club headed by President Lion Zully Marcovich and Lions Touvia (Teddy) Goldstein,
Abraham and Estela Markelevich, Eliana and Sergio Schkolnk, Raquel
Piatkes, Menachem and Miriam Torchi.

The Latinamerican Caribbea Lionistic Forum, FOLAC 2004, to be held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, January 14-17, 2004, has invited our Founding President, Lion Touvia (Teddy) Goldstein to lecture on Twinnings and to organize a Multuiiple Twinning Event in its frame.
Invitation to participate at the First National Lions Israel District Convention to be held in Rosh Haayin on October 23,2003. In the program District Governor Lion Zvika Lubovich, will grant to "Dan Paz-Israel" Lions Club the First Prize won in the International Lions Lin Contest awarded at the International Lions Convention held in Denver, Coklorado, USA.

13.10.03 - Tel Aviv - Aviv Lions Club honors Lion Touvia Goldstein with a Diploma in recognition for his Lionistic Collaboration.
23.10.03 - A delegation of our Club, headed by our President Lion Zully Marcovich, participated in this year's First National Convention of District 128-Israel held in the city of Rosh Haayin
In this ocasion, District Governor Lion Zvika Lubovich, presented his Cabinet Members and the District Committees Chairmen.
From our Club where mentioned Lions: Touvia (Teddy) Goldstein, Marion Kopel and Sergio Schkolnik, the first, District Controller and International Music Contest Committee Chairman, and both others, each Charing the Committees of Inmigrants Absortion and Twinning, respectively.
Also in this festive ocasion, the Governor honored our Club giving over to our President the recognition sent by Lions International as the winner of the First Prize in the International Lionistic Pin Contest held during the International Lions Convention held in Denver, Co.
Its to regret that, Lion Touvia (Teddy) Goldstein and his son Micky coudn't be present at this very emotive ocasion due to a car accident that happened on their way to the meetting and that, fortunatly, only had car demage consequences.
Touvia,our Founding President, during his presidential period, had the initiative to produce a pin for our Club and also a pin for each President during his presidential period and like this create a tradition and a pin collection. The graphic artist who actually created the pins, was his son Micky that did this volounteerly.
It is proper to underlign that, the Club's Pin is financed by the Club's funds but, the President's Pins are financed by each President personally.

24.10.03 - With the intention to study our eventual collaboration, a delegation of our Club headed by our President, Lion Zully Marcovich, visited the "Eliya" Institution for the help of the blind children located in Petach Tikva.
Mr. Micahel Segal, General Manager, explained the aims of the institution, its working systems and than showed the premises to the visiting Lions.

TAVEL TO CYPRUS
Our Founding President, Lion Touvia (Teddy) Goldstein, organized a trip of an Israeli Lions Delegation to Cyprus, to participate in the Europe Forum 2004 in Limassol, in the Twinning between Dan Paz-Israel Lions Club and Paphos Adonis Lions Club held in Paphos and to tour the beautiful lsland.
The Delegation was headed by DG Lion Zvika Lubovich and had 64 participants: 10 members of our Club and members of 12 other clubes, candidates and the chelist Miachal Korman and her family. She won in Israel the local competition and represented Lions Israel in the European Mucasil Contest held during the Forum. She got the honorable 4th prize.

New Lions Club – Raanana Pninat Hasharon
On December 2nd, 24 Lions, headed by their President, Lion Ora, received their Charter.
A delegation of 6 members of our Club, “Dan Paz-Israel” participated in this important Leonistic event. As usual, our presence was noticed due to our distinctive colored scarves.
2003 Leonistic Weekend
More than 350 Lions of allover the country gathered at the Plaza Nazereth Hotel to enjoy the 2003 Lionistic Weekend organized by District 128 – Israel.
18 members of our Club participated in this very successful meeting.
A Lions Israel Delegation headed by our Founding President, Lion Touvia (Teddy) Goldstein and with the participation of Lions Shulamit and Rafael Avital members of Jerusalem Host Lions Club,participated in the XXXIII Latin American and Caribbean Lionistic Forum - FOLAC 2004 held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and in the Intercontinental Multiple Twinning done in its frame and organized by Lion Goldstein.
Lion Goldstein in its trip, spent one week in Florida, (01/5-11/04) one week in Santo Domingo (01/11-18/04) and one week in New York (01/18-25/04).
The Forum took place betwee the 13 and 18 of January and the Twinning Event in its frame, on January 15, 2004.
In Florida, Lion Goldstein participated in a meetting of Miami Lakes Lions Club; there he lectured and gave a presentation on Lionistic Twinnings.
He was also invited to dine with the President and members of Miami Managua Lions Club, both. Both Clubes participated in the Intercontinental Multiple Twinning during the Forum.

The Forum's Opening Ceremony was held in the Three Carabelles Salon of the Fifth Centenary Hotel in Santo Domingo..
Very emotive was the the Flags Ceremony. Each participating country's flag entered solemnly with a young lady dressed beutifully with typical dresses and escorted by Navy and Air Force Cadetes and finally located on the stage..

At the Closing Ceremony, International President, awards Lion Touvia (Teddy) Goldstein with a special plaque given by FOLAC for his cintribution to the success of the Forum and the organization of the Intercontinental Multiple Twinning done in its frame.

Finally the FOLAC ends with the Lionistic Anthem and everybody holding hands.
And in cold and snowy New York, especially invited, Lion Goldstein and his son Dany, participated in the meetting of Brooklyn Caribe Lions Club.

The event took place on January 30, 2004 at the Manquehue Military Club in Lo Curro ubicado located in the Manquehue hill fromwhere a marvelous sight can be seen of the city of Santiago,Chile and its neighboring burroughs.

During the District's National Meetting that took place on Jan. 19, 2004, Lion Sergio Schkolnik, District Twinning Committee Chairman (2003-2004), member of our Club, described the twinning activity during the period. In his words he highlighted the Twinnings of "Dan Paz-Israel" Lions Club and specially the Intercontinental Multiple Twinning in the frame of the XXXIII FOLAC (2004) with the participation of 72 Clubs in which Lion Touvia (Teddy) Goldstein, Founder President of our Club and now the Club Twinning Committee Chairman had a preponderant participation.
On February 3, 2004 Lion Zully Marcovich, our Club President, accompanied by Lions Elsa and Simon Satuchne, and Eliana and Sergio Schkolnik, all of them members of the Welfare Committee of the Club, handed over a computer donated by the Club to the Special Education School "Sinai" in the City of Ramle. 130 handicapped children study at this school and the computer will be most helpful for their development.

SOME MONTHS AGO, LIONS INTERNATIONAL FORWARDED TO LION TOUVIA (TEDDY) GOLDSTEIN, FOUNDING PRESIDENT OF "DAN PAZ-ISRAEL" LIONS CLUB, A MEDICAL HELP REQUEST PRESENTED BY THE POOR FAMILY OF A YOUNG BOY (10 YEARS OLD)) FROM AZERBEIDJAN, THAT IS LOOSING HIS SIGHT.
FOR SURE THE MESSAGE WAS FORWARDED TO LION GOLDSTEIN AS IT WAS WELL KNOWN THAT A YEAR AGO, WHILE HE ORGANIZED THE TRIP TO GERMANY OF THE ISRAELI LIONS DELEGATION ON THE OCASION OF THE TWINNING OF HIS CLUB WITH BITTERFELD LIONS CLUB (ON THIS SAME OCASION DISTRICT 128-ISRAEL AND DISTRICT 108-NAPLES AND JERUSALEM HOST LC AND PALERMO VESPRI LC ALSO TWINNED), A MEMBER OF THE GERMAN CLUB THAT READ IN THE LOCAL NEWSPAPERS THAT DR. URI REHANI, DIRECTOR OF THE OFTALMOLOGY DEPARTMENT IN THE NAHARIYA HOSPITAL, RETUREND THE SIGHT TO A PALESTINIAN YOUN GIRL, HE REQUESTED TO PRESENT TO THE DOCTOR THE CASE OF HIS YOUNG DAUGHETER THAT WAS ALSO LOOSING HER SIGHT. UNFORTUNATLY, IN THIS CASE, DR, REHANI CAME TO THE CONCLUSION, AFTER STUDYING WELL HER MEDICAL HISTORY, THAT NOTHING COULD BE DONE.
THE CONTACT WITH DR. REHANI THAN RESULTED IN A JOINT PROGRAM OF BOTH LIONS CLUBS TO CREATE IN NAHARIYA HOSPITAL A CORNEA BANK. FOR THIS PURPOSE HE JOINED THE ISRAEL LIONS DELEGATION TO MAKE CONTACT WITH THE "HALLE HOSPITAL" CORNEA SPECIALIST. THE PROGRAM IS POSITIVELY ALIFE WAAITING FOR THE PROPER FINANCIAL RESOURECES.
AS THAN, THE MEDICAL HISTORY OF ELGUN WAS STUDIED BY DR. REHANI AND FORTUNATLY IN THIS CASE HIS CONCLUSIONS WHERE POSITIVE.
AFTER HIS POSITIVE RESPONSE WAS GIVEN, LION GOLDSTEIN REQUESTED FROM DR. REHANI TO TRY TO GET THE AUTHORISATION OF THE HOSPITAL'S MANAGEMENT TO RECEIVE THE BOY FOR SURGERY AS A HUMANITARIAN ACTIVITY GRANTING HIM COMPLIMENTARY MEDICAL ATTENTION.
AS SOON AS THE HOSPITAL'S POSITIVE ANSWER WAS RECEIVED, HE REQUESTED FROM LUFTAHNSA FREE TICKETS FROM BAKU TO TEL AVIV AND BACK FOR ELGUN AND HIS MOTHER AND FROM HOTEL "ROSENTHAL" IN NAHARIYA A COMPLIMENTARY ROOM. BOTH ANSWERED ALSO POSITIVELY.
FINALY HE WROTE TO THE ISRAELI CONSUL IN BAKU TO GRANT THEM THE REQUIRED VISAS.
ON FRIDAY MARCH 19, ELGUN AND HIS MOTHER ARRIVED TO ISRAEL AND WHERE RECEIVED AT THE AIRPORT AND TAKEN TO NAHARIYA BY DISTRICT GOVERNOR LION ZVIKA LUBOVICH, LION GARY ROTH, DEPUTY DISTRICT GOVERNOR AND LION TOUVIA (TEDDY) GOLDSTEIN THERE THEY WHERE RECIVED BY HON. RON FARBER, MAYOR OF NAHARIYA, HAGAY INBAR,MUNICIPALITY'S SPKESMAN, DR. URI REHANY AND FRIENDS.
NOW ONLY RESTS TO HOPE THAT AFTER THIS GREAT EFFORT, ELGUN WILL RETURN HOME WITH HIS SIGHT RESTORED.

Lions Paintings Exhibition
“Petach Tikwa Lavi” and “Dan Paz-Israel” Lions Club artists presented an exhibition of their paintings at the Sharet Gallery, Petach Tikwa.
Lions Eliana Schkolnik and Menachem Torchin are the members of our Club that presented their works.
Among the participants at the emotive opening ceremony were the Mayor of the City, Hon. Itzik Ohayon and the 128 - Israel District Governor, Lion Zvika Lubovich.
In their greeting words they highlighted the important activity that the Lions perform and the continuous collaboration that the city authorities offer to Lions Clubs permanently.
Lions Sports Day
Many members of our Club, together with their friends and families, participated, on March 3rd. in the Lions Sports Day that was organized by the District.
This activity allowed the acquaintance and friendship among the members of the different Lions Clubs participating. Several Clubs offered their merchandise at the Bazaar and the profit was for charity.
Used Spanish Books Fair
“Dan Paz-Israel” Lions Club organized, once again, the traditional “Used Spanish Books Fair”, this time together with the Natanya Branch of the Latin American Organization in Israel (OLEI).
This activity, which took place on March 26 and 27 has a double purpose, on one side, to allow the Spanish speaking new immigrants, who do not know Hebrew yet, to purchase books at low cost and, on the other, to get funds for charity.
Many new immigrants visited the fair and purchased books.
PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR 2004/5
On April 7, 2004, in a very emotive event, our Club proclaemd, Michael Segal, Director General (volounteer) of ELIYA.
We were honored with the presence of DG Zvika Lubovich, PDG Lion Shel Sandler, Lin Tzwia Sandler, President Petach Tikva Lavi LC, Lion Shimon Bar-Cohen, Past President Tel-Aviv Haav LC,Personalities of the Years 2001/2,Iula Gutgold and 2002/3, Alex Kalit, Lions of de various Clubs, guests and members of our club.
Together with his emotive words of gratitude, Michael Segal gave us the oportunity to view the labor of ELIYA while an interesting film on the institution dedicated to treat blind children and prepare them for normal school integration.
His work done as a volounteer, was therational behind his election of our Club's Personality of the Year 2003/4.
Lion Zully Marcovich, as testimony, rendered to him a very nice Diploma.
Our Club's Secretary and Second Vice-President Lion Marion Kopel, during her visit to Berlin, was received and hosted by members of Berlin BonaFacta Lions Club. We'll be Twinning our Clubs next June 16 when a delegation of the german Club will visit us for this purpose.
A large and active delegation of members of our Club participated in the 44th National Convention held in Kfar Hamacabbi on April 15, 2004.
Significant was the particpation of our Club members in quantity and in substance during the 44th National Convention.
Lion Marion Kopel, our Secretary and Second Vice President, gave a report of the New Inmigrants Committee that she heads and our Founding President, Lion Touvia (Teddy) Goldstein, besides the report of the Music Contest Committee that hea heads,
had two more interventions:
he presented a Power Pint Presentation showing the Israel Lions Pin Collection. This presentation is the result of a two year investigation that he did searching and finding all the Lions pins that where issued in Israel since Lionism was here created in 1960 and, the other intervention, eventhough he presented his candidacy for election as Third Vice District Governor, he withdraw it in favor of his friend Lion Dr. Marcel Friedman, act that was very much considered by the delegates for its dignifying friedly attitude.
Lions Sergio Schkolnik, President Elect of our Club and his wife Lion Eliana Schkolnik, participate in the Emerging Lions Leadership Seminar held by Lions International in Denmark.
Lions Abraham Markelevich and his wife Lion Estela Markelevich, participate in the Leadership Seminar organizied by Lions Israel in Ramat Gan.
Lion Touvia (Teddy) Goldstein participated as an observer beeing a District Cabinet member.
Program of the final stage event of the Lions Clarinet Contest held on April 20, 2004 and organized by the Music Contest Committe of the District Chired by our Lion Touvia (Teddy) Goldstein.
Our Club sponsors the participant Moran Katz, one of the four finalists.
Moran won the contest and she will represent our District and Israel in the International Music Contest to be held in Rome, Italy inthe frame of the EuropeForum 2004, Sept20-Oct 2, 2004.

German Lions visit our Club
Our club received, on a friendship visit, Lion Manina Ferreira-Erlenbach, Past President of "Berlin Bonefacta"
Lions Club and Lion Detlef Schenk, Past District Governor District 111 - ON (Berlin-Brandenburg- Mecklenburg-Vorpommern) and Vice President of "Berlin Bonefacta" Lions Club.
Our Club members were their hosts in a friendly dinner and in several sightseeing tours in our country.
In this way we bring, even closer, the international relations among Lions.
Club Member Teaches Internet to elder people
Our Club President Elect, Lion Sergio Schkolnik participates, as a volunteer instructor, in an Internet course that the Municipality of Kiriat Ono organizes for elder people.
New Club Officers learn their job
The Club officers that will be undertake their jobs on July 7, participated, on June 18, in a seminar for future Club Officers that was organized by the District.
