When I was a kid (2 or 3 years back; LOL), I read this in some papers my mom had. I like what it says; Like "a lesson in there somewhere" type thing.
"I dreamt death came the other night,
and Heaven's gate swung wide.
An angel with a halo bright,
ushered me inside.
And there to my astonishment,
stood folks I judged and labeled,
as quite unfit; of little worth;
and spiritually disabled.
Indignant words rose to my lips,
but never were set free,
for every face showed stunned surprise.
No one expected me."

I see a lesson for life in there. We are just pilgrims here on earth, on a journey. Compared to "forever", what is 50 to 100 years? It's a short trip. We have temporary bodies bestowed upon us; shells housing the soul. What should it matter if this body is black or white; yellow or red? When this trip is over, we can have brand new bodies. Ones that will last forever and never decay; never be corrupted. All it takes is compassion and love; treating each other as family; brothers and sisters; all having the same Father. This trip will not always be easy, but what is 100 years or less, of hardship and pain, compared to an eternity of a perfect paradise? It's but a drop in the bucket. Surely it is worth it to follow the guidelines given to us by God, considering the wonderful rewards we will gain.
Let's make this a better world. Let's not judge a person by
the color of their skin; by the value or condition of their clothes, cars
and home. To make this a better world, just try to leave it
a little better then when it was shared with you. Look at the content
of a person's heart, for that is the part of each of us, that lasts forever.
That is what makes us who we are. Ask yourself this today, "Am I
happy with me?" "What can I give to this world, since it has given me so
much?" Be grateful for everything you have; food; roof; friends and family.
Some have so much less. If you have extra clothes, give to those who are
cold and without. If you have extra food, give to those who hunger.
If someone is lonely, offer them your time; an ear to listen; an open mind
to understand.
Your material things will not last, but what you do and say in this
life, lasts forever, in the affect it has on other people. I know
if you truly give from your heart, you will be rewarded with so much more.
Last but not least, and this goes for me too, practice what you preach.
If there is any wisdom here you think could do some good elsewhere, feel free to send it where it's needed.
