Bringing in a large influx of new recruits does pose certain problems. Especially when they are new to the idea of e-wrestling. One of the main aims of the BJWC however, is to help develop new talent, which in real terms means teaching you how to roleplay and conduct yourself correctly around here.
The BJWC Executive Staff have decided to knock up a small guide that should help many of you navigate your way through the murky waters of the BJWC e-wrestling empire, hope you find ituseful!
1) Never, and we mean NEVER use another handlers wrestler in your Roleplay without their express permission. It is strictly taboo to physically attack another wrestler in your RP`s. Violation of this rule will lead to instant dismissal! One can improvise however, use lookalikes or dummies, have someone dress up like the wrestler you are feuding with and attack them. Always make it clear that this is what you are doing.
2)Do not post stupid one line statements on the RP board (ie asking for matches). If you have a problem then e-mail either myself or the other members of the BJWC Executive Staff. An OOC board has been provided for questions, comments etc... so please use it.
3)If you wish to submit a strategy(an idea for a sneak attack, angle development etc) then e-mail it directly to ALL members of the BJWC Executive Staff. Your ideas will be considered on their merit, but at the end of the day it is the fed heads who have the final say. If we dont like the idea then it wont be used, simple as that!! Use the official BJWC strat form to submit strats for specific matches.
4)Rome wasn`t built in a day!! The key to success around here is to take your time. It can take many weeks to establish yourself in the BJWC, ... it can take months of hard work to create that special character. If you`re looking for a quick fix then you`ve come to the wrong place. You`ll need patience and dedication to succeed around here.
5)In order to succeed you have to understand the concept of Roleplaying. In simplistic terms a roleplay is the e-wrestling equivalent of real-life in or out of ring interview, dialogue or flash. The difference here however is that you dont have the benefit of pictures, therefore it is up to you to paint that picture and create some of the atmosphere that goes with it.
*Describe the scenario.. the background (maybe you are in the lockerroom after a match or possibly at home, whatever... just try and set the scene)
*It is also important to try and give a physical discription of your character. Tell us what he is wearing and what he is doing. Describe his actions as he speaks... maybe he drinks a beer or lights a cigar, works out or beats down on a fan. If he does it, discribe it.
*You should also describe how your character is feeling OR thinking. Is he pissed, relaxed, pumped up or just plain crazy. Emotional content is vitally important, also explain why your character is feeling the way he does. Maybe your character has something on his mind, tell us his thoughts... some of the best Roleplayers have their wrestlers think out loud as opposed to speaking.
*The actual dialgue is probably the most important part of any Roleplay. This is how we really get to know your character. 'Trash talk' is generally the order of he day but dialogue can be much more than that. Telling a rival that you`re gonna "kick his ass" is all well and good, but it soon becomes repititive, try to be original. Does your character have particular way of talking, any mannerisms, accents etc? Sometimes general chit chat with an interviewer or possibly a fan can be an interesting way of addressing the issues at hand.
*Always keep the content of your roleplays within the boundries of what is decent. I dont need to spell this out but excessive cussing (unless it is a specific trait of that character), racial abuse or sexual inference to minors will not be tolerated. And remember, your roleplays are for in-character statements only. Never use your roleplay as a means of trashing another wrestlers handler.
*Maintain a degree of realism when writing your roleplays. Having your wrestler beat up twenty guys or bench-press 2000Lbs wont earn you any brownie points. Remember, you`re creating a wrestler not a comic book hero!!
*Always check your grammar, spelling & format before posting. Read through your roleplay carefully, there`s nothing more irritating than reading a roleplay littered with mistakes when they could have been so easily avoided with a little care. Same goes with layout; correct use of paragrahs make one hell of a difference! (see below)
*Learn how to grammatically structure your roleplay, in other words use PARAGRAPHS!! Spreading your text out makes the piece look more professional and easier to read. Posting one huge indigestable chunk of text makes the text hard to follow and diminishes the overrall effect of the roleplay.
6)Learn from those around you. There are many excellent RPers in the BJWC. Check out the roleplay board & read your fellow e-wrestlers posts carefully. You`ll be surprised what you can learn!
7)If you show commitment & potential then you will be assigned matches accordingly. The BJWC hosts one card per week. However I am the first to admit that we aint the most reliable of federations!! Still, you have to remember that we have lives outside of e-wrestling and that we are running this league off our own backs for free!! Be patient with us!!
8)Taking a loss and moving on is all part of the game. Nobody is unbeatable and even the best have to learn how to fall. Loosing isn`t just about roleplaying either. You may have been out stratted by another wrestler or maybe the development of an angle requires you to loose. At the end of the day if you cant take a loss then you will fail.
9)When joining the BJWC, a new recruit will have to PROVE him/herself. Coming in & going straight after the big boys is a BIG taboo. You have to work for your shot at glory. A remember, e-wrestling isn`t just about winning a title. As nice as it is to have a piece of gold around your waist, there are more important things. A good angle/feud can mean far more than some tin-pot title, indeed some of our finest roleplayers have never held gold & dont give a damm simply cuz they`ve enjoyed creating some crazy feud with another handler.
10)If you are familiar with Html then you can incorporate that into your RP`s. This is purely optional however and gains you no extra credit. Some of the finest roleplayers here in the BJWC never use Html so dont feel obliged.
10)Most importantly, have fun!!! If you need help dont be afraid to ask!!
