Where should I start? Hmmm.... I grew up in the small town of Cohassett, MN, which is about 5 miles west of Grand Rapids. We had a pretty cool neighborhood there. Almost all of the boys my age were into the same things. BMX took up most of our time. I liked music as well, but just did not have the patience for it back then. My other major interest involved any thing with 2 wheels. I was given a mini-bike when I was 8 or 9. A honda Z-50. Ah man, that was IT!! When I grew out of that, I just rode my bike for a few years. My dad built me a 1/4 pipe for it. We were lucky, we had 2 in the neighborhood. Mine was a bit smaller, so we used mine for doing shows. We rode hard for about 3 years, then everyone else felt they out grew it I guess. I got a dirt bike about then anyways. A Honda XR250. I love those 4-strokes.
We had a house fire in '89, so for awhile I lived away from all my friends. When we moved back, it seems like things were just not quite the same. Oh well. In 2000, a year after we move back, thats when I got the dirt bike. Thats when my parents split up too. My dad moved out & my mom had to sell the house. Lots of memories there, but change can be good too.
This was about the time that I was realizing that I had a interest in music. I thought it was from a prodution stand point & it still is, to a degree. My mom & I moved into GR & I started hanging with a new crowd. A few of them also had musical interests, so we used to play together alot. These were/are the friends that last a life time. Even though we don't get to see each other near often enough, we know the other is still there. Thanks guys.
I didn't lose all my friends from 'da hood. I kept one. We used to jam some too, but what can I say, his telling me how I couldn't sing or how I didn't have rythym got old after awhile. After he got married, he pretty much cut me off. He wouldn't come over to see but I still went over to see him. I think I've talked to him twice since our wedding, 3 years ago. I actually avoided him in stores a few times after that, cause I was so angry at him. I've only recently felt like making that connection again. But we did manage to pen a few tunes, which was cool.
I tried going to trade school, but my life pretty much fell apart & I quit. I should have went back. I met my wife about 7 months afterwards. We've been together for 10 years now. We dated for 7 years before we got married. We wanted to wait untill she was done with college. In this time somewhere I remembered that I always wanted to try my hand at photography. My mom was having a garage sale & was selling a Vivitar camera that I had forgot she had even had, so I told her I'd buy it. She told me just to take it. Thats what started it all. I used it at several freestyle BMX shows that year & I really enjoy it. Sadly, time has not permited as much lately.
After the wedding we moved to Eveleth, MN. I worked at the Virginia K-Mart while she tried a
variety of jobs up there. They didn't pan out like we wanted so she found a job in Stewartville, just south of Rochester. That was fine with me, I didn't care for Eveleth & our downstairs neighbors were awful. I felt bad for their kids. Things started going pretty good for us in Roch. I was working at that K-Mart. The store manager there taught me alot. made quite a few friends there, even non-coworkers. But Melissa's job took a turn for the worse after her good boss left & they hired some other loser. So off to Waseca we went.
It was/is a little hard for me to find work here, but I'm getting by. I drove back & forth to Roch for a month, then took about 2 weeks off. I got a job here in Waseca @ Brown Printing. They make magazines. That was awful, but I toughed it out for 2 1/2 months. I know work at Ritz Camera in Mankato. It's a 1/2 hour drive, but there's nothing here for me, so I get by. Melissa's job with the city is going pretty good. We've been able to buy a house & cars & even a couple of bikes this year. It's so great having a house. I've been getting my studio/office set up & am about ready to finally do a little more recording. It's been awhile & I have a few new song ideas in my head. It's also nice having a garage that I can work in, although it's a little tight right now, not to mention
cold. We need to get a shed to store the bikes in during the winter months before next year.
Well, that about sums it up so far.
Thanks for reading.
