The
first year we decided to get into racing we went to the races (1990) and watched
other drivers and then went out into the pits and visited with them. We
got a lot of ideas and information from a variety of people. Then that
fall (1990) we started a partnership with Rick Johnson. We bought a 1978
Cutlass and started from the ground up. It took quite awhile to get the
car done. Our first race was May 19, 1991 in Hallock, MN. We were
just going to go there until the new track in Greenbush, MN opened, but we were
doing so good that we decided to stay. We ended up 1st in Midseason Track
Championship Greenbush Race Park, 1st in Points Greenbush Race Park and 2nd in
Points at the Kittson County Race Track (Hallock). Rick did the driving
end of the deal and Art did the pit crew end. We had a lot of fun and
learned a lot this year.
