Relationship and Connectedness

How FCCLA Relates to Family and Consumer Sciences

FCCLA is a co-curricular organization, which is intended to work with FACS classes and teachers, to broaden and expand learning in a non-traditional way through STAR Events, projects, and community service.

There are classroom activities that deal with FCCLA, and there are also graduation standard assessment materials that connect with our organization, both available on the Minnesota FCCLA website.Click here for more info.

An example of how our organization and public schools connect, involves STAR Events. Often, teachers have students sift through the STAR Events handbooks and pick topics of interest to them. Basically, these students complete a STAR Event for classroom credit, which makes sense, as most STAR Events are tailored to fit Family and Consumer Sciences topics.

Many FCCLA members become interested in joining through their experience with STAR Events in their Junior High FACS classes. So, in pretty much anyway that you look at it, FCCLA and Family and Consumer Sciences classes co-exist and help each other in many ways.
