It could be, but there are a few things that trouble me. Zachariah Bailey
like most of Anselm's line left Va for Ohio around 1810-1815. There is no
record in the Quaker minutes of their ever returning to Virginia, and I know
the Raifords never left Va, so how did they get together? That's the firs
part. Allen and Diza werr married in Southampton County, Va in 1840.
Neither of them were Quakers at the time. According tyo marriage info and
census, Allen was born in 1815 and Diza was born in 1817 rather than 1813.
Allen and Dizza were the parents of: Robert b 1841, Henry B 1843, Martha b
1846, Rebecca b 1850, Acquilla b 1854, and Milton b 1858. Allen died in
1860, his executor was Henry D Bailey of Southampton County. this Henry who
was married to Mary Freeman had a brother named Robert who was married to
Sally Hart. I notice that Allen and Diza named their first son Robert and
second Henry which seems to suggest a relationship between these families.
Also in 1860, there was a 28 year old spisnter named Nancy Bailey living in
the house with Diza B Raiford. How these children's ages come out is like
this : Diza b 1817, Henry D b 1819, Nancy b 1822, Robert b 1825.
As you no doubt know, Anselm Bailey had a son named John who died in
Isle of Wight in 1712 who was a Quaker also. He had a son named William
Bailey who married Sarah Howell. William died arond 1772 and was the father
of (among others) John Bailey named for his father who married mary
Calthorpre daughter of Charles before 1756. They were the parents of
Charles Bailey who married Rebecca (Hart?) and made his will in Southampton
County in 1826. They were the parents of:
1. Polly Bailey married Lewsi Worrell in 1797
2. Rebecca Bailey married Samuel Kitchen in 1801
3. Samuel Bailey - mentioned in father's will
4. Joseph Bailey - mentioned in father's will
5. Diianna (Diza) Bailey married John Brister in 1810

7. Jesse Bailey married Nancy Fulgham in 1820
8. Elizabeth Bailey born 1797 married John A Gwaltney
Joseph Bailey above married a woman named Elizabeth. He is lkisted
on the 1830 census, but died before 1840 when she is listed as the head of
the household. In the five year ranges given for children on the census
there is a daughter 20-25 (b 1815-1820) a son b 1815-1820, a daughter born
1820-1825, a son born 1825-1830, and a son born 1830-1835 all of which
match exactly the brothers and sister that seem to have been Diza Bailey
Raiford's siblings. I'm going to need to see some strong proof to
convince me Allen Raiford's wife was Zecharaih's daughter. It would be ok,
since I have the line back to Anselm, it just seems improabable.

From VA, William traveled to OH on 25 July 1804 and returned on 19 Dec 1804.
Apparently he was reconnoitering because he and most of his family migrated to Belmont Co, OH. on 21 Aug 1805.
Requested to move to Concord MM, Belmont Co, OH. 21 Aug 1805 (HQR)
He and his wife continued to practice their chosen religion here, but most of the children gave up the Quaker life style, but according to the American Encyclopedia of Quaker Genealogy, all the children were born into this religion. Later most of the children were disowned by the Quaker executive body for marrying outside the Society. But apparently he and his wife continued their beliefs because they are buried in the old Ridge Cemetery in Somerset Twp. Belmont Co, OH

75. LEMUEL7 BAILEY,JR (LEMUEL6, ANSELM5, ANSELM4, ANSOLME3, WILLIAM2, ANSELME1) was born Abt. 1771, and died Abt. 1816 in Surry Co, VA. He married ELIZABETH ELLIOTT May 11, 1791 in Isle of Wight Co, VA.

In the name of God, Amen. I, LEMUEL BAILEY of the county of Surry being of sound mind and memory do make and ordain this being my last will and testament in the manner and form as follows to wit;
1st I give and bequeath to my brother WILLIAM E BAILEY all my right title & interest in all the Negroes belonging to the estate of LAMUEL. BAILEY dec.d in the county of Surry also my right in the Isle of Wight Plantation and Mill to him and his heirs forever,
2nd In case my brother ROBERT H.L BAILEY chargers me no board for the resent year 1815 or any other year of my life, I give him one half of my interest in the Surry Plantation to him and his heirs forever.
I give the other half of said Surry Plantation to WILLIAM E BAILEY to him & his heirs forever.
I constitute and appoint W.E BAILEY my whole sole executor of this my last Will & Testament utterly disallowing and revoking all former Wills by me.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my head and affixed my seal. This twenty fifth day of September 1875.

The within written last will and testament of LEMUEL BAILEY dec.d was presented into Court by WILLIAM E BAILEY the executor therein named. The same being proved by the oaths of MORELAND DELK and JEREMIAH DELK two of the witnesses thereto was by the court ordered to be recorded. On motion of the said executor, who made oath and gave bond with RICHARD H.L BAILEY and Joseph Cofer his securities in the penalty of two thousand dollars conditioned as the law directs certificate in granted him for obtaining a probate of this testament in due form

This Indenture made this thirteenth day of January One thousand eight hundred & Six Between
Micajah MUNFORD of Isle of Wight County of the one part, and Lemuel BAILEY of Surry County of
the other part, Witnesseth that whereas the Said Micajah MUNFORD Stands justly indebted to the
Said Lemuel BAILEY the Just Sum of Twenty five pounds thirteen Shillings Current money, due on
bond dated the 12th day of December last past- and honestly desiring to Secure & pay the Same
with the growing interest thereon, & for And in consideration of the further Sum of Six
Shillings to him the Said Micah MUNFORD in hand paid by the Said Lemuel BAILEY, at or before
the Sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof he the Said Mic:h MUNFORD doth
hereby acknowledge, hath granted, bargained and Sold & by these presents doth grant bargain &
Sell, alien enfeoff & Confirm

unto the Said Lemuel BAILEY, his heirs & Assigns forever, One Certain tract or parcel of land,
Situate lying and being in the County of Isle of Wight aforesaid and on the north Side of a
branch called and known by the name of the black hare branch, which divides it from my other
lands on one Side & the most known rispected bounds of William DEFORD, William WHITY the Said
Lemuel BAILEYs on the other Sides, Containing by estimation forty acres be the Same more or
less, with all houses outhouses buildings, Orchards, bays, waters, watercourses, profits,
Commodities, hereditaments and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining
and also the estate, right, title, claim, interest & demand whatsoever of him the Said Michael
MUNFORD of in & to the Said premises above mentioned & to every part & parcel thereof- unto the
Said Lemuel BAILEY his heirs & Assigns to their proper use and behoof forever and the Said
Mich.l MUNFORD doth by these presents bind himself his Heirs, to warrant & forever defend this
his Sale of all & Singular the premises with the appurtenances to him the Said Lemuel BAILEY
his heirs & assigns forever against him & his heirs and against all and every person or persons
whatsoever provided always and it is the true intent & meaning of the parties to these
presents, that if the Said Mich.l MUNFORD or his heirs &c Shall well & truly pay or Cause to be
paid unto the Said Lemuel BAILEY or to his heirs &c the above mentioned Sum of Twenty five
pounds three Shillings due on bond with the accumulated interest thereon, together with the
expense of drawing & recording this Indenture on or before the first day of September next
ensuing the date hereof then & from thence forth these presents and every thing therein
Contained Shall Cease & be Void- but if default be made in payment of the above mentioned
principle & intrest money & the before mentioned expenses of drawing & recording this indenture
or any part thereof Contrary to the proviso above mentioned, that then the Said Lemuel BAILEY
his heirs or assigns Shall after the above mentioned September the first next ensuing- or as
Soon after as the Said Lemuel BAILEY Or his heirs &c Shall think proper, or the Said Mich.l
MUNFORD or his heirs Shall request (which ever of these two Circumstances Shall first happen)
Sell for the best price that can be got in ready money after giving ten days public Notice the
Said land & premises within mentioned, and out of the money arising from Such Sale discharge
pay and Satisfy the Within mentioned principle and interest money as Shall appear to be due &
unpaid together with the aforesaid Charges of drawing & recording this Indenture, the
contingent Charges of the Sale & other necessary expenses thereunto relating & the overplus if
any to be paid to the Said Michl MUNFORD or his heirs &c In Witness whereof the Said Michael
MUNFORD hath hereunto Set his hand and affixed his Seal this day and year first above Written-
