March 2, 1999 was the most memorable night of my life.It was the day
before my 15th birthday, and most importantly, the night i would be
seeing HoLe for the first time. As a new fan, i did not know what to
expect from the notorious Courtney and the other band members. Well,
all i can say is that she was gorgeous. Before i get into more
detail, i should probably tell you about Marilyn Manson and Monster
Magnet, the other bands at this show. Monster Magnet was HORRIBLE. It
seemed like the perfect band for 40+ metalheads who just wanted to
"Rock out, man!", and i was disgusted. The crowd was mostly waiting
for Marilyn Manson, so they weren't too excited. After Monster Magnet
and HoLe came Marilyn Manson. All i can say is..he was
very..interesting.
And now, HoLe. My seats were really bad, so the band looked almost
like ants, but luckily(unlike my friend in the balcony) i could see
SOMETHING. Courtney wore black leather pants and a see through top
(which she later took off) with a black bra underneath. Melissa, as
far as i could tell, was wearing a red dress that had many different
layers. Samantha, the new drummer, was wearing something sparkly. And
Eric wore black pants and a black dress shirt that was a little
shiny. Some songs that they played were Violet, CS, Dying, Miss
World, Doll Parts, Heaven Tonight, Plump, Malibu, and Awful. I think
they played something from POTI too, and something that i didn't
know. Throughout the show, Courtney insulted the audience ("Aw,
c'mon. You call that a cheer? I think I'm gonna have to leave."),
thanked the Orange Room for being there for her when she was "a
little slut", and kept badgering Melissa to take off her top.
Courtney surpassed my greatest expectations. She was fierce, yet
sensitive at the same time. And SO gorgeous (no, i'm not a lesbian
[and i mean no offence to anyone who is :)])!!!! When my other friend
said she got to touch Courtney 3 times, I started crying. I WISH I
had been at the front!!! Well, there IS Edgefest coming up..:) All
and all, an awesome show that solidified my obsession with HoLe!!!!!
