Newsflash! Courtney Love
Sassy, Dec. 1996
So you thought Courntey was all bad taste, bad hair and roaring girl punk?
Not even close. Sure, that's one side of her, but the world is about to see a different Courtney,
an endearing, silver-screen Courtney. In the movie The People vs. Larry Flynt,Courtney
plays Athea Leasure, the drug-addicted wife of Larry Flynt, a man famous for founding
nudey magazines (to put it nicely). While it's no secret that Courtney has indulged in drugs
in the past, it's not as if she was doing drugs on the set to get into character-the word is that
Courtney can actually act! So well, in fact, that the Oscar people are checking her out to
possibly compete for a best actress gold boy with the adorable Gwyneth Paltrow, Aussie-lady Nicole
Kidman, and the bodiced-beauty Winona Rider. Call it prim and proper vs. Courtney Love!
But that's not all. ROck's reigning bad girl is putting her guitar down and posing for the camera.
Pretty on the inside, and now, on the outside too, Courtney has just signed with the Next modeling
agency. And next up filmwise, she's in Not Bad For A Girl, wich analyzes the kickass ways
of hardcore girl bands (in art theatres now).
Between her camera-ready career moves (she's also appearing opposite Keanu in Feeling Minnesota
and she made a brief appearance in the art flick Basquiat), her latest boyfriend Ed Norton (catch
hi in Woody Allen's latest movie Everyone says I love you) and raising little Frances [they spelled
it Francis] Bean Cobain, Courtney definitely has her hands full. Maybe that's why her nail polish is
always chipped to hell...
