Courtney Love gets on people's nerves the way only a real rock star can,
and she found her voice on Live Through This, released only days
before Kurt Cobain's death. She snarls about the thin line between
Love and hate, veering from rage-queen guitar explosions like "Violet"
to moments of sublime folk-pop beauty like "Softer, Softest." "I've got
a blister from / Touching everything I see," sings Miss World, and she can
take some consolation in the knowledge that she left her share of blisters
on us, as well.
