Pretty On The Inside
"We thought we were just making a pop record with an edge."
Pretty On The Inside is Hole's debut album. Released in 1991, Hole's lineup was Courtney Love (guitar, vocals), Eric Erlandson (guitars), Jill Emery (bass), and Caroline Rue (drums). The album is, as Q Magazine put it, "...is a genuinely uninhibited kind. From the opening `Teenage Whore' onwards, the howling confrontation doesn't let up. It's loud, ugly and deliberately shocking...". The song "Starbelly" has parts of the Fleetwood Mac song "Rhannon" and Hole song "Best Sunday Dress". The album ends with Pretty On The Inside and Clouds combined as one track.
