Chapter Eight

Taylor was getting tired of being cooped up in the house. He was desperate to get out. He rolled over in his bed and looked at the clock. The bright red numbers shone in his eyes and he had to wait a second before his eyes focused. He figured out that it was 2:48 in the morning. He sighed and got up. As he searched his room for his board shorts, his thoughts drifted to Summer. He didn't know what his feelings were towards her, but he had spent nearly every night with her in her bed and he couldn't figure out what made him do that. The whole situation was embarrassing, he was sharing a bed with a girl he didn't know. He snuck into the bathroom and quickly got changed. Then he crept downstairs and headed towards the front door. He stopped when he heard someone sobbing in the lounge room, he peeked around the doorway and was surprised that Summer was crying.

Summer sniffed, she didn’t really know why she was crying. Her parents had never really cared for her and her sister was never around. But it hurt to know that they didn’t care, everyday she saw one of her housemates getting phone calls and letters from their families and there was nothing for her. She didn’t exactly get along with Desiree and Melina was too stuck up, so there was no-one to talk to. She heard a crash from behind her a jumped a mile. Wiping the tears from her face, she spun around to find Taylor sprawled out on the floor.

"What the hell are you doing?!?" She cried. Taylor got up quickly, blushing.

"I heard you crying and I didn’t realise the door wasn’t shut properly and I leaned on it." He replied. Summer laughed,

"And what are you doing sneaking around at this time of night?"

"I’m one of those people who just can’t sleep at night. What about you?" he asked, taking a seat next to her on the couch.

"Homesickness I guess." She answered.

"Oh, well I’m going down to the lake, you wanna come?" he asked her. Summer nodded and went upstairs and changed into her bathers in the bathroom.

Taylor dropped back a little as the two of them walked silently to the lake. He could barely see Summer through the darkness, but he knew he was falling for her.
