Sonnet 1

How is it I am falling for your charm?
Silence haunts me endless nights and days.
When stumbling through this world and all its harms,
your presence is the solace my soul craves.
I fight to find a purer love than this,
but thought avails me nothing better yet.
I wonder if we were destined to miss
each other somewhere past. I will forget
the color of your eyes, the way you laugh,
how soft you talk when your head is in pain.
Your words will go unheeded. They will pass
as quietly as they came, but you remain.
We cannot love the way we may desire;
the love of friends is all I will require.
