The Templars:
officially known as, The Order of the Knights of the Temple
- Founded by Hugh of Payens, with 9 other knights, in 1118
- Validated by Baldwin I, King of Jerusalem, and were granted permission to set up their headquarters in the Temple of Soloman
- Their mission was to protect prigrims traveling to Jerusalem and other holy places
- Became a major influence in world activity for 200 years before being disbanded in 1314 due to charges of hereasy
- Rumored to still exist...

Why do these two groups effect the Phoenix Family?
Originally the Phoenix began in one local area, a small shire called Lost Forest in Calantir.
Eventually it's membership grew and moved throughout the Known World. Our family now
resides in Calantir, the Middle Kingdom, the Outlands, and Drachenwald to name a few.
Because of this fact we needed an organization that crossed Kingdom borders. We had to establish
a group of guidelines that allowed us to be seperated, yet similar in mission, behavior,
and dream. These two historical groups were able to do just that in the Middle Ages...before
our modern technologies came into play. That is why they are an influence to us.
