Answer:
Christ came to this earth to prove that GOD is fair and just and that his laws are fair and just. When Satan was thrown out of heaven for insubordination and spreading lies about Jesus and The Father, he accused GOD of being unfair and that his laws were unnecessary and could not be kept. He was thrown down to Earth where he claimed that he would be as God. He would turn the people against GOD just as he had done with a third of the angels. Christ and The Father had already talked about the possibility of this happening one day, in Heaven and knew there was only one way to save their creation. Christ would come to earth as a man and teach the people the truth. HE would prove that GOD's laws were just and could be kept but HE would have to sacrifice HIMSELF to make it possible for man to receive eternal life. Satan said "Go ahead, come on, I'll get you too." GOD took a great risk. Out of love for us, HIS son came to earth as a man and was tempted by Satan just as we are.
His mission was twofold; one dependent on the other. He had to live a sinless life, lifting up the law of GOD. When he died sinless, he took on all the sins of the human race and suffered an intense death. In doing that, he made it possible for us to receive eternal life. All he asks is that we believe in him and obey his commandments. The only time he told us in scripture how to show our love for him he said, "If you love me, keep my commandments".
The ancient sacrificial ceremonial system was set up to point to the ultimate sacrifice of THE LAMB OF GOD, JESUS CHRIST to atone for our sins and offer us eternal life.
