Architecture -- Help design Pern.
The architects of Pern work closely with the Miners and Woodsmiths to design and build its Holds and Cotholds. They can often be found pouring over sandtables and wherhide drawings of structures, or in heated debates over what building style should be used in a certain case.

Chemistry -- Help blow up Pern.
Pern's chemists are the makers of the much needed agenothree (HNO3) - an important line of defense in the ongoing battle against Thread as well as a well-used fertilizer. Chemists have been know to explode things many times, especially when they're working with fireworks. They also work with the Tanners, Weavers, and Woodsmiths to create dyes, stains, and paints. A colorful bunch, all, none of whom are let near the shiny pots or our pristinely white sheets. On second thought, you might want to add the Masters onto that list.
For more information, visit Grego's chemistry page.

Glasscraft -- Help window Pern.
Looking through glass. You may be doing that as you read. On Pern, glass, both ornamental and useful, is the love and labor of some smiths. In their line of products can be found mirrors, statues, and light fixtures (tho Glow baskets are handier). They also work along with the Starsmiths to create the distance viewers and various lenses that those night owls demand on having. The more ... creative GlassSmiths even manage to make glass dragons and suncatchers. Always a crowd pleaser at a Gather.
For more information, visit the how to make glass page, by Margret.

Machinework -- Help motorize Pern.
Pern's machinists are responsible for the creation and upkeep of many technological marvels. Among their charges are the Weaver's loom and the Distance Writer. However, since PernMUSH is decidedly low tech, there isn't much call for new inventions. It's not stifiling creativity, it's a way of life.

Material Science -- Help mathmatize Pern.
Material science is the study of materials, their properties and the methods of combining them to achieve desired goals. This subcraft is almost a most difficult one; it being the theoretical and analytical side of the Smithcraft. Most Crafters in the subcraft came to it to further their studies. Usually Mathematicians, and those interested in pyhsical science join this subcraft.

Metalwork -- Help forge Pern.
The metalsmiths make everything from irrigation pipes to finely detailed jewelry. They can often be found wheeling and dealing with the Miners to obtain ores and gemstones for their works. Much of the repair work on the agenothree sprayers and flame throwers is carried out by the metalcrafters.
