Ostara is a minor sabbat which celebrates the first full day of spring. The Goddess is awake and strewing Earth with fertility. The God of Light (Llew) reborn at Yule defeats his dark twin (Balor) by piercing him with his sunlight spear. Thus earning him the right to mate with the Goddess. She conceives a child which will be born nine months from now at Yule. This may also be the time of their Hiergamy (the sacred handfasting of a Goddess and God).

Things generally associated with Ostara: colored eggs, baskets, green clothes, birth, rabbits and the colors yellow and green.

It is a time of renewal and new beginnings. It is the Growing Tide.
