Reincarnation

A common belief among Wiccans is that of reincarnation. There are many variations on the specifics of this belief. Those presented here are the views of Coven of the Sacred Oak. Coven of the Sacred Oak believes other views on this subject are equally as valid as theirs and by presenting their views here are in no way saying these beliefs are better than any one elses.

The spirit undergoes a series of incarnations in order to learn its life lessons and become a higher being. We incarnate as minerals, plants, non-human animals, humans, demi-gods, what ever form is most appropriate for the lessons we need to learn in that particular life. We carry with us in our subconscious those lessons previously learned and the memories of our past lives.

Reincarnation is an important belief for two main reasons. The first is that it reduces grief when our loved ones pass away. We know they have learned all of the lessons they needed to during this life time and we know we will meet with them again in a later life. The second reason is it negates suicide as a way to avoid whatever problems we may be having in this life. We would just be back to face those same problems we thought too difficult to deal with in this life time.
