STOUGHTON/MADISON - August W. Freund, and 103, of Stoughton, formerly of Madison, dies on Saturday, May 21, 1983, at the Skaalen Sunset Home. Born on March 15, 1880 in Cottage Grove Township, he had farmed the Hope area until his retirement in 1967. He was a life-long member of the Hope Lutheran Chursh and had been active with the Lutheran Brotherhood there. Survivors are two daughters, Ruth Wagner of Madison and Dorothy Larson of McFarland; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Homberg Freund, and a daughter, Marie. Funeral services will be at held at Hope Lutheran Church at 3702 Highway AB at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24, with the Reverend Vernon E. Awes officating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 23, at the GUNDERSON FUNERAL HOME at 5203 Monona Drive and from 10 a.m. on Tuesday until time of services at the church. In lieu of Flowers, memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
