John Nelson Murdock was born in Columbus Co. Wis. Dec. 25, 1848. Died Jan. 6, 1912 aged 63 yrs. and 14 days. He moved to Valton Wis. in 1870 and was united in marriage to Susanna E. Thomas Nov. 22, 1873. Born to this union were two daughters Mary and Ida. He leaves to mourn his loss a wife two daughters a brother and four grand children all being with him in his last hours. Funeral was held at Valton at 1p.m. Tuesday, sermon by Mrs. May Markee from Rev. 1:17:18, a large congregation being present on a bitter cold day showing the respect in which he was held. He was one that will be much missed in his home and among his neighbors and in the Sunday school and church being a faithful attendant as long as able. Thought being a sufferer of Chronic Brights Disease he uttered no complaint. He was laid to rest by the side of his mother in the Valton cemetery.
