STOWE: OBITUARY OF MILLIE ANN STOWE MORTIMER
Millie Ann (Stowe) Mortimer, daughter of William and Sarah Stowe was born in the town of Ironton, Sauk County, March 14, 1886. Death came suddenly at her home Dec. 11, 1963 at the age of 77 years, 8 months, 27 days.
She was married to Dolph Mortimer, June 30, 1908 and lived her entire life at their farm home in the Valton community. They observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1958.
While health permitted she was very active in the Valton Methodist church she loved. She enjoyed working with children, was primary Sunday school teacher for years and cradle roll superintendent. Millie was very interested in missionary work and just last week sent a missionary box to Honduras.
She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, 4 sons, Ronald of Wonewoc; Walter, Ironton; Duane, Columbus; and Dean, Green River, Wy.; and 1 daughter, Mrs. Arnold Blakeslee, Middleton; and Elmer Gaedtke of Boston, Mass., who spent his teen-age years in the Mortimer home. There are also 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; plus 1 brother Ner Stowe, West Allis; and 3 sisters, Mrs. Bertha Chamness, Milwaukee; Mrs. Clarence Kingery, Madison; and Mrs. Ed Ells, Platte, So. Dak.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 14, 1963 at 1:30 pm. In the Valton Wesleyan Methodist church with Rev. Ard Blomberg presiding. Mr. and Mrs. Gail Jackson sang, accompanied by Mrs. Blomberg. Burial was in the Valton Cemetery.
