Crestwood DeMolay - Old Tradition Meets New Tradition
Crestwood Chapter Order of DeMolay applied for Letters Temporary in May of 1962, and was Instituted and Chartered in October of 1963. During its 50 year history, Crestwood has been recognized for their beautiful attention to detail and artistry with the DeMolay ritual work, as well as their successes in state and international athletic competition.
Crestwood DeMolay has a rich 50 year history of brotherhood and success in helping young men prepare for their years of manhood. They have been recognized on several occasions as the Missouri Chapter of the Year, High Twelve Overall Missouri Ritual Champions, Chapter of the Year for Athletics and Sportsmanship, and Regional Champion in all of the above. Several Past Master Councilors of Crestwood Chapter have served Missouri as State Master Councilor and other State Offices. Many members and advisors of Crestwood have been invested with the Chevalier Degree, Legion of Honor, Guild of the Leather Apron, Cross of Honor, PMC-MSA, Representative DeMolay, Founder's Award and Blue Honor Key among other recognitions. Some of their Chapter Sweethearts have gone on to win or place in the Missouri State Sweetheart Competition. Those affiliated with Crestwood DeMolay can be very proud of this rich tradition.
Crestwood DeMolay is probably most well known for their success with the performance of the DeMolay ritual in Missouri and International DeMolay competition. The name "Crestwood" is synonymous with high quality, moving, beautiful, often word perfect ritual, and has been known as such since the Chapter's inception. Crestwood ritualists have in the past won the Initiatory, DeMolay Degree, Chapter Proficiency, Installation Service, and Majority Service ritual work at Missouri State Conclave on a consistent basis, and individual ritualists have won such prestigious awards as Best Jacques DeMolay, Ceremony of Light, Master Ritualist, and International Best Flower Talk. Crestwood DeMolay takes pride in the ritualism of our work, and wishes to continue this strong tradition of bringing high quality ritualism to Missouri DeMolay.
Regarding athletics, Crestwood has been known to at one point or another be a strong force in each sport DeMolays participate in. One of the highlights of Crestwood DeMolay's successful sports history came at the 75th Anniversary of DeMolay International in Kansas City, MO, when Crestwood won the International Volleyball and Bowling Competitions, and finished Third in International Softball. The tradition of fun, success and brotherhood through athletic competition helps to make Crestwood a Chapter any young man would be proud to associate himself with.
Today, Crestwood DeMolay returns after a brief hiatus to embark on a new and exciting journey of brotherhood and comradeship. New members are starting new traditions. New young men are establishing a new standard of excellence. New Crestwood DeMolays are establishing themselves as high quality ritualists and competitive athletes. It is a great time to be a part of Crestwood DeMolay as they reshape and mold the Chapter, creating a new entry the Crestwood Chapter story. What lines will you pen in the "new" Crestwood tradition?
