Without careful planning, effective instruction is not likely. Creating viable plans involves knowing the individual needs of all children, the school's, district's and other's demands, and balancing those competing notions in a planned endeavor to deliver teaching to generate durable learning. It takes years of training and experience to do this well.
I look for four components in a lesson plan.
1. What are the results expected?
2. What methods will be employed?
3. Who are the targets and how will instruction be differentiated for those needing it?
4. How will you prove that they learned?
