Thomas Brooks was born 25 Jan.1825, in Connoquenessing, Butler Co., PA., according to military records. ((Obituary states Athens Co., OH., and death certificate states OH.)). He died 6 May 1912 in Unionville, Putnam Co.,Mo.
Possible parents were John and Mary Magdalene (Haning) Brooks. ((Not confirmed))
He was wed twice.
#1 Roxanna Shannon, wed 6 Apr. 1848. They were divorced in 1871. She was born in 1829 in Ohio and died of scarlett fever in 1871, in Glenwood, MO.

on 7 Dec. 1871, in Putnam Co., MO.
She was born 9 Jan.1850 in OH. Died 22 Oct. 1947 in Kansas City KS, at the home of her son George, with whom she had been living for the past nine years. She had become blind in later years while living with son Peter Baldwin. She was living in Hibbsville, IA. at time of marriage to Thomas.
Her parents were Peter Timothy and Mary Ellen (Crawford) ROOP.
Sarah's husband #1 was Henry J.N. Baldwin, and they had 1 son;- PETER TIMOTHY BALDWIN.
Peter wed Mary Ellen Crawford. She was born Oct. 1871 and died Jan. 1946.

Thomas lived in Putnam Co., MO. from 1853 till his death in 1912. He and his family were among the first settlers there. He is buried in Unionville Cem., Unionville, MO. Thomas and Roxanna were in Athens Co.,OH. till 1862. After Thomas' death, Sarah lived
for awhile with her son, Peter Baldwin, and later with son George, in Kansas City, KN., where she passed away. She is buried in St. Johns Cem., Livonia, MO.
Thomas fought during the Mexican War for nine months, (oral history NOT confirmed). He also fought during the Civil War with Co. D, 18th Mo. Inf. from Jul.1861-Jun.1864. He was wounded at the Battle of Bull Run and also at the Battle of Shiloh, where he was hit by a cannon in the leg. He was also captured and presumed dead Sept-Oct 1862, but was released in a prisoner exchange. He was discharged due to "Rupture".
