Layered rocks leaves
The past undisturbed
Stones remember
Visitors from long ago.
Trees burrow roots
Deep into skimpy soil
Tell of survival
Limbs leave room for growth.
Eroded layers indicate a tortured past
Smooth surface reveals future paths
Flattened out, texture removed
Crevices are opportunity for expansion.
Boulders beckon resistance,
They remain after the rest
Have disappeared.
