"Okay. So. Well. I'm here."
"Don't sound so excited."
"Hey, well, what do you want me to do, stand up and bounce around in joyous laughter?"
"It's a start."
"You know, we are going to have to figure out what to call eachother."
"Why so?"
"Well, your Zac Dentra, and I'm the hanson, and so, we need to think of something to call one of us so we don't get mixed up."
"Like what."
"I don't know. You can think too."
"Uh, I don't know."
"Well think."
The two Zac's sat on the Dentra's front porch. Staring at the cars that sped down the street, and the groups of people that slowly trapsed their way along.
"I thought you said we were going to terrorize your sister."
"What do you want to do then? Sing mmmbop?"
"You and your Mmmbop fantasies."
"Whoa whoa, I have no fantasies in which any of your family take part in thank you very much."
Dorin's car pulled up in front. Screeching to a halt, his door swung open, and he stepped out, carrying stacks of papers.
"Door! What's up?"
Zac Dentra raced off the steps.
"Oh. Nothing. Help me with these?"
Zac grabbed a handful of papers.
"What are all these for?"
"Just stuff."
Dorin walked into the house, throwing his stuff down on the kitchen table.
"Hey Zac, I gotta idea....about the name thing."
Zac Dentra stood above Zac hanson.
"I'm callin' you lucy."
"No way man, Do I call you names after your songs, nope, I don't think so."
"Come on man."
"How's bout we call you blondie...you like that huh?"
"Ha ha ha ha. Funny. So then, what are we going to call you."
"Me...I was here way more first then you were."
Dorin walked up behind them.
"Why don't you call Zac hanson, Hanson, and you call yourself Dentra."
Zac Dentra looked at Zac hanson.
"Dude. That was totaly genius."
"Why didn't we think of that?"
"Dunno. So...Hanson. You up to it."
Zac Hanson stared at Zac Dentra.
"Don't know if I can handle it."
"I'm begining to think it might be a strain."
"I could break."
"You could break? Man, I could cry."
"Would you both shut up!"
Dorin spun around, laughing quietly to himself.
They had now shortened their names to, Han, and D, they said it sounded cooler, and not nearly so hard to say. They had gotten bored sitting on the porch, and had, to Mercy's great dislike,
moved inside to find a victim.
"Yo han, you got it yet?"
"Shh! Man! It's like...trying to get away!"
"well pick it up and walk over there!"
"She's your sister! I don't want to get hit!"
"She's not going to hit you! Just do it!"
Zac hanson reached for the spider, pushed it onto his palm and walked towards Mercy.
"Hi."
Mercy looked up from her homework.
"What do you want."
"Oh nothing. But your brother said to give you a present."
With a grin on his face, Zac dropped the spider on her notebook and ran.
"YOU LITTLE SHITS!!! I'M GOING TO KILL YOU YOU LITTLE SHITS!"
Mercy was too busy trying to get the spider off her books and kill it then to notice they had run out the door.
Laughing on the porch steps, they stopped.
"That is so cool D, we gotta do that again!"
"Nooo, we have to find something better."
They sat down again. The outside was now turning black, and Zac soon had to go home.
"You know D, I'm kinda glad that we met."
"Oh yeah. Why so."
"I don't know. Just am."
"If it makes you feel any better, so am I."
They both sighed. Just then a white mini-van pulled up the street.
"There's my brother."
"Your brother? Why is he here to pick you up?"
"Cause. Mom is at home with my brother and sisters."
"Oh. Want him to come in for a minute?"
"Sure. As long as your sister doesn't disembowl him."
The van pulled to a stop in front of the house. The drivers door opening and slammin shut.
"Yo Zac, you ready?"
"Ikkkkeeeee. Wanna meet the Dentras?"
"Nope. Lets go."
"I think not!"
Zac hanson was yelling at his brother, and all the while, Mercy had been creeping up behind the boys.
"GOTCHA!"
Mercy yelled just as the bucket of ice water hit the two of them.
In the middle of the sidewalk Isaac hanson cracked up.
"That's funny. So guys, what did you do to deserve that?"
"JUST A SPIDER MAN!!! Now I'm all cold and stuff."
They were shivering.
Mercy came out again, this time with two towels.
"Don't mess with me and spiders. Got it blond boys."
They looked up at her in the door way, both nodding excesively.
"So Ike, you comin' in or not?"
"I can't. We gotta get home."
"Why the rush dude?"
"Taylor's in the car."
The two Zac's froze. Turning to eachother and letting a big grin take over.
"Hey ike, wanna bring tay inside?"
Zac Dentra sat smiling, straight ahead.
"No, I don't think so Zac. He didn't even want to come."
"Then it'll be good for him!"
"I don't think so Zac."
"If you don't get him out of the car I will."
Isaac slouched.
"Zac, leave him alone."
"No, I don't want to."
Zac walked to the car and pulled open the passengers door.
"Hey tay."
"What do you want?"
"Well gee! Can't your brother come say hi?"
"Nope, there are strings attatched I know it."
Zac grinned.
"Come inside and meet your dream date tay."
"Shut up Zac and buzz off."
"Come on tay! Get out!"
Zac grabbed one of Taylor's hands and, quite successfully pulled him out of the car.
Shutting the door behing his somewhat pissed brother, Zac started leading him up the sidewalk.
"Yo D! Check this out!"
Taylor trudged along. Draggin his feet, so as to slow Zac down and start pulling.
Zac Dentra shot up from the porch.
"Taylor! Man! You are my idol!!!"
Zac Dentra didn't dare touch taylor. Is wasn't his place. He didn't know him well enough. He'd let hanson do it all himself.
"Zac. Let go of my arm, I'm coming."
Zac released his tight grip on taylor.
"lets go then."
The two Zac's led the way, getting up in front of Isaac and Taylor, and giggling and whispering back and forth.
"Sorry Tay, I was trying to make him leave you alone."
"Quite well I see."
"Oh well, you'll be fine."
They walked in the open door to the apartment and stopped by the entrance.
"Hey mey, got someone for you to meet.
Mercy, still working contendedly on her homework glanced up.
Rolling her eyes and telling Zac to screw off, she went back to her work.
"Anyway! Taylor...Isaac, that's my sister, Mercy. She tells me all the time she has the hots for you."
Zac was incidentally standing far too near to be safe, and without looking up, Mercy swung, and caught him way too close for Zac to be comfortable. He stepped away, blushing.
"She's nicer when she's asleep."
Zac hanson grinned up at his brothers.
"Zac we gotta go."
"Ikeeee! No way man."
"Come on, mom has dinner cooking."
"Okay. Hey D, see you later."
"Yup. Like. when is later?"
"I don't know. Tell me."
"Tommorow?"
"Can't, tommorow I think we're doing something or other."
"Uh, after that?"
"How bout the weekend, then you can come over to my house."
"Kay. You have to come get me."
"Okay, what time."
"Saturday, no earlier then 10:00."
Zac hanson and his brothers turned and walked out.
"Zac, next time you do that, I'm going to kill you."
Mercy sat next to him on their sofa, staring straight ahead, and making no facial expressions.
"What?"
"I don't care if you bring little blond girl over here. But don't bring his nasty sisters."
"I didn't, they came, and I just invited them in."
"Don't do it again."
She scowled at him. What was her problem? Sure, he had to admit, he hadn't liked them yet either, but hell, if he could tolerate the other two, then she could.
"I'll do what I want."
Zac stood up, rather irritated, and walked to his room. Just before closing the door to his room, he yelled at her.
"AND THEY AREN'T GIRLS MERCY."
Taylor sat in the front seat, staring back at his younger brother.
"Why?"
"She hates me, and you and I and the rest of the world knows it."
"So."
"So, I'd like to keep it mild, you know, not dire enemy type stuff."
"Naaaaggghhhh! She likes you."
"Zaaaaccc. I mean it."
"Tay. I can see it now. You, her, sandy beach. It'll happen, don't worry."
Zac giggled as taylor reached back, locking onto a piece of leg.
"Oh yeah! You can see it huh! See this!"
"You guys chill out."
Taylor turned back around.
"I won't worry Zac."
"OOOOHHHH! Big mister confidence! Cute little lover boy!"
"Just you wait and see. Zac is gonna eat his words."
"So what's on the agenda for tonight?"
"I think Door and Jem will be back a lot later, so how's pizza?"
"Nagh. Pizza sounds gross."
"Then what?"
Zac sat back and thought. He didn't know.
"I don't know. Pick something."
Mercy walked to the freezer, and opened it, staring blankly at the small selection of Tv dinners they had.
"How's macaroni sound?"
"Fine with me."
Zac grabbed the clicker and sat back down. South park was on.
She now realized that she was being bitchy. Uncalled for bitchy. There was no reason she could despise the hansons. Although, it seemed almost natural. She wanted to make up, tell them they were okay. But she couldn't.
For some reason she just couldn't. Oh well she thought.
"Now, all you have to do, is grab that big nasty spider from off that window sill, and put it on her math book."
Zac Dentra had imediatly sat down. Zac hanson would take getting used to. He was a strange kid, but then again, he was cool too. Zac liked him cause he had this style to him, some thing that made him so cool to hang around.
"Zac you know, I am going to have to hurt you."
The rest of the week went by slowly. Dorin spent most of his time filling out papers, and doing homework, and Jeremy spent most his time at school, with his friends. Now days, it was down to Zac and Mercy at home.
All the while Zac had talked of nothing but nonesense, Mercy had doubts in her mind.
