"Hey Zac, you comin'?"
Mercy stood by the door, looking back into the apartment at her brother.
"Spose so."
They were house shopping. Simple as that. When Dorin had come home and presented them with the amount getting paid to them fro their contract Mey had almost collapsed. Zac's eyes had
grown quite large, and shock was all that could be understood. So far, they were worth so much money!
"Where we gonna go?"
"Door said to the realator downtown, don't know when though."
"I know when, as long as you know the place."
Zac stepped out into the warm air. School was now out, and they were spending more time then they wanted working with people they didn't know on recording.
"I don't think I want a new house mey."
"Why?"
"What if it doesn't look nice?"
"Zac. Don't be a smart ass. We need a new house."
They had traveled around the state, doing small shows, ones where they could be seen, they had done a few in Denver, and had been flown to New York and California for various events. They could already feel the sense of
stress that anyone in their position would have. They were expected to finish their album by no later then September first. Hell. They had been kicking ass to get it done. It was now the end of June, and they had a little over half of it done.
"Get in."
Mercy had earned her drivers liscense, and was now usually the only one to hang out with Zac. Dorin spent much time at a studio they worked at In tulsa. Jeremy stayed with his friends. He, more then any of them felt the stress, and it bothered him like nothing else.
The way to the realators office went in silence. They were tired, and it was getting later.
"Mey. Where are we gonna move to? I like where we are."
"Do you remember before we left to denver. And you took mental pictures of what it looked like? Remember? You wanted change too. I'm kind of looking foreward to it."
Zac sighed.
"It just seems so confusing though."
"Why so?"
"Just does."
"Things will get better soon. I promise."
Zac walked down the tile floored halls into the back rooms of the house.
"Door, how are we going to take up all this space?"
The first thing they had done with the check was buy instruments. Their old ones were quite worn out, and out of style. Zac was constantly asking for a bigger better set, and Dorin had always been set on a better guitar. It was time for new.
They had then taken care of vehicles. They sold Dorin's ancient space cab and furnished themselves with two new cars. One for Jeremy to drive, and one for Dorin. A truck, and a small car.
"I don't guys. This is like...too big."
Despite the fact that Zac could have his own, big room, did not stop him from doubting their new home.
"Zac. This is cool! You have to like it!"
"Can I skateboard in the halls?"
"No."
Dorin liked this house the best out of all 12 they had seen so far. It was big, bright, and airy. He wanted all that. Something their apartment had not been.
The realator had pointed out several areas of intrest, including the nearby schools, the parks, and the very large backyard.
Dorin was now 18. Which was why he decided to make the move in the first place. He could keep the rest of them together.
"How much are we talking for this place anyway?"
The realator hesitated.
"I know this is steep, but it's brand new, and well, it has some great things..."
"Price please."
"$230,000, but it's completely worth it I know!"
Dorin gapped at the thought. Turning back to the rest of his family he sighed.
"What happens if things don't go well? We have to give this place up and end up in debt.
"Doesn't matter to me. This place it cool enough."
"What about our friends guys! They are way back on the other side of town."
"I'm positively not leaving eric for this place."
Zac rolled his eyes. Eric the asshole as he put it. When they had gone to Denver, he had cheated on her, then when she returned,
dumped her, then when he found out they had done something, come back to her on his knees. He couldn't really blame his sister, she loved the guy, and couldn't help it.
"Mey...eric....is an aaasssssssshooooolllllleeeee."
She swung at Zac.
"What would you know."
"Enough to say you don't need him."
Dorin spun around. Eyeing both Mercy and Zac, in a 'if you don't knock it off things are going to get ugly.' look.
"I think we need time to talk about it. I'll give you a call tomorrow."
The realator shook hands with Dorin and smiled, handing him a card and telling him if he had any questions to call her.
"Will do."
They walked down the sidewalk, all with their heads following their feet. Zac climbed into one car with Mercy, and Dorin and Jeremy in another.
"Mey I'm bored."
"Why are you telling me?"
"I don't know. I just am. I wish Zac would hurry up and get back already."
"Where was it they went again?"
"Europe and New York. Mtv, stuff like that. For some stupid thing."
The hansons had taken a trip to Europe, one, to do a video, and two, to promote their newly released album.
"Think we'll ever be like them Mey?"
She smiled.
"Do we want to be like them?"
"Your so mean to them."
"Am not."
"Yes you are! Do you know how hard it is for them to even be around you. They get all fumbly."
"What! That's the funniest thing I've heard. They do not. They're big boys, they can handle it."
"Your still mean to them."
"Oh like what?"
Zac let out a deep breath. If he had to tell her what she had done to make them miserable, he would have to pull out his list. She had, for the most part left Zac alone. Maybe it was because her youngest brother was friends with him, or maybe she was just being nice.
Isaac was a victim to her constant battle with authority. She didn't like it when he talked to her, and they were constantly at it like young children. Taylor was completely different. He wanted to warm up to her. Tried as hard as he could. Matter of fact, Zac Dentra and Zac hanson sometimes
had in depth conversations consisting of Mercy and Taylor. He said something nice, she punched him in the gut, threw him down and spit on him.
"You treat taylor mean."
"He'll survive."
"No. You treat like you don't treat the other two. Like you do it just to hurt his feelings."
"Oh sure. That's it. I do it just to hurt his feelings."
"Mey. He's tried being nice to you."
"So what! Doesn't mean I have to return the emotions."
"Mey...."
She stared at him.
"Drop it Zac."
Zac stood aside as Eric walked in the front door, brushing Zac's shoulder as he made his way past.
Muttering under his breath, Zac cursed Eric's being there.
Mey came out from her bedroom, and walked to her boyfriend of a year and a half....sort of.
Wrapping her arms around him and embracing him in a kiss.
"Can you do that SOMEWHERE else please? That's just gross."
Mercy pulled back, looking over to Zac and scowling.
"What? I don't need to see that....I'm only 13."
Zac walked into their kitchen. It was mostly packed away, in boxes or what not. But there were still a few things out to use. They were moving July 15. 6 days before Jeremy's 17th birthday.
So nasty. I hate that guy. Such a creep. I know he's going to be trouble, I just know it.
Zac was thinking to himself. Eric really was a sleez ball. Zac knew what he wanted from his sister. Money, first of all, and something Zac was sure Dorin would kick his ass for from Mercy.
"Zac, go find something to do."
"Why don't you. Go to his house or something. You're being sick."
Mercy rolled her eyes. Peeling Eric's hands off her waist, she walked back into the hall.
"Fine you little brat. I will."
Mercy walked to the door, Eric following behind her like some lost creature.
"If Door asks, I'm at Eric's. And I'm not gonna be back for a while."
"Whatever."
She slammed the door on her way out. Zac sticking out his tongue at her.
He ran to the sofa and jumped on, grabbing the remote from the table, and clicking it on.
The tv's flourescant glow shinned at him.
"So are there a lot of girls that show up at your house then?"
Zac's eyes fixed on the tv, waiting for the picture to come in completely.
"Naaaggghhh. Some times they come, and they sit in our street with signs."
Zac stared at the screen, watching one of his best friends and his two brothers do an interview.
"Do you ever go outside."
"No way! We would get mobbed."
"Are you guys allowed to go over to friends houses and stuff, or do you have security guards that go with or something?"
A grin appeared on Zac hanson's face as he stared back at Carson.
"Well, we have these one friends, that have a sister, and she like hates people...."
Zac paused, and Taylor butted in.
"Like, hates people, probably screaming girls more...."
Zac Dentra giggled. Mercy all right. Matter of fact, if she was reading, and anyone giggled, she'd remove thier vocal box.
Zac hanson started again.
"...and she would like, save us from those kind of people, not for our own good of course...."
Isaac smiled.
"Yeah, and they are like....kick butt, they are kind of intimidating looking, not like..."
Taylor kept on the sentence.
"Not like bad, but they sorta look scary...."
Zac hanson giggled.
Carson's questions went down from there. Zac had watched several of the Hanson's interviews, and found that they were mostly the same, and
that if he'd seen one, there was no point in the next.
He clicked off the tv.
At least the fact that they were in New York meant they would be home soon. Within the week probably. Or so they had said.
Zac sighed.
Boredome sucked, zac knew it would suck more once they released their album.
He stood up. Walking back into his room, he picked up an empty box and stepped to his closet. They only, after all, had another 4 days til the 15th of July.
"This is kinda big."
"MEY! ERIC IS HERE!"
