"On the road agin, just kain't wait to git on the road
agin…." Zac trotted around the living room, holding one hand out in front of him
as if on a horse. "Zac would you get your stuff in the car and place yourself in the
backseat?" "Let me put ol' Nellie away." Zac pranced around. "She's mighty
feisty today 'm afraid." Mercy rolled her eyes and shoved one last shirt into a
suitcase. "ARE WE EVER LEAVING THIS PLACE!" All morning long
Jeremy had been screwing around, turning on the stereo when the last thing she
wanted to hear was green day. Dorin had panicked, realizing he had lost his favorite
shoes, and Zac had spent his morning eating, playing 'ol Nellie' and just making
everyone a little more irritated. "Zac! Do something with your body! Put it to
work!" He dropped his jaw sarcastically. "Mey! Haven't you ever heard that
riding horses is great for your body. It makes it work. I have a friend whose sister rides
horses. You should see her thighs Mey, hugonto they are. They are like logs attached
to her at the hip. It's weird. Mercy scowled. "Get in the car now." He drew
back. "Reeeeerrrrrr kitty kitty." He picked up a bag sitting on the floor and
pulled open the front door. "Is this all Jem's bringing?" She nodded. "He
must think he's already got stuff in NY, cause this bag is feather light." "Good,
you'll have no trouble getting it to the car." He stuck his tongue out at
her. "Take them out before I cut that tongue off." He shivered, exiting out to
the car. Jeremy came thumping down the stairs. "So Mey, What'd you do with
that bag I brought down." "Zac took it out." Jeremy Jumped. "Oh
no!" She frowned. "What." "He wasn't supposed to take that one! That one
has all my hidden drugs!" Mercy's eyes got wide. "Jeremy Dentra!" He
smiled. "Kidding Mey, only kidding." She reached over and punched
him. "Oww." "You deserve it." "Guess not." "Why not?" "Cause she didn't ask me too." Isaac
frowned. "What do you mean she didn't ask you to?" "Well the last time she
talked to me other then monosyllabic grunts, was Monday. So that's what I
mean." "Are you two fighting?" "Apparently. Even though I didn't know
it." "You haven't fought before." "Yes we have. We don't do it in front of
family. You know, we keep it to ourselves." "Sorry man." "No, it's not a big
deal. I just spose she'll come back with some hunk. Or she'll go find Eric and hook up
with him again. Something to that extent."
"I think you should go over there." "I'm not. If she doesn't want me
there." "Have you ever thought that maybe she wanted you to suggest going over
there?" Taylor sat up in thought, then slunched back down in his
seat. "No." "Well you know, she's a girl, and maybe for once she wants you to
do the thinking." He laughed, slapping the paper against the palm of
his hand. His friend had left him enough money to get a cab there, food at both
airports, and a cab when he got there. "This is wonderful." Zac smiled as he sat
down to watch a show on dogs that rescue. "I bet I'll get there, she'll treat me like crap, give me a 'see you
when I get back or something'. And then leave." His white car sped down the
street. "I bet she's already gone." As he turned on to the Dentra's street, he saw
Zac sitting in the back of their truck, and subconsciously let out a sigh of relief. He had
actually wanted to say bye to Mey, to save himself the bitching when he got
back. Pulling up in front, he opened the door and stepped out. A slight breeze was
present and his light T-shirt waved and flapped. "She's in the house Taylor. And
she's pissy. So go make out with her and maybe I'll be able to tolerate sitting next to
her on the plane. Zac smiled a fake smile and sat back down in the car. Walking
up to the open front door, Taylor knocked on the doorframe, peering inside.
"Hello?" Mercy was standing at the sofa, but didn't turn
around. "Mey." She continued looking through CD's. "Mey?" "Bout time
you showed up. I thought you weren't going to come. And then I was going to have to
be even more pissed then I am." Taylor stopped on his way in. "Well if your
pissed then I'll just turn around right now and leave." "Did I say leave?" She
looked over her shoulder at him. "No, but it doesn't seem like you really want me
here." She shrugged. "You didn't call me all week." Taylor rolled his head
back. "Mey, you were pissed when you got out of the car on Monday. For
whatever reason. Is there a reason you're mad at me?" She stomped her foot, and
left the room, CD case in one hand. Taylor sighed. "Hey man what's
up." Jeremy stepped into the living room from a back room of the
house. "What's the matter with your sister?" "Uh, nothing. Why?" "Well.
Letsee. I'm in the living room, she's not. Isn't it obvious?" Jeremy
chuckled. "She was whining about you last night I think." "About
me?" "yeah. You didn't call after lunch on Monday." Jeremy had a grin on his
face. "What's so funny now?" "Shame on you. You didn't call her when she was
sending you psychic vibes." Jeremy patted Taylor on the shoulder. "She'll be
fine dude. Just say, Love you, and see you when you get back. And maybe if you really
wanna get on her good side give her a 'see you in a while' kiss. She'll smile, and things
will be back to normal." Jeremy grabbed a few more bags off the floor and left to
the car. On his way to the kitchen, Dorin stopped Taylor. "Hey Tay. Is Zac in
the car?" He shrugged. "Yeah, I think so." "Okay. Where are you
going?" "Well hopefully to make amends with my girlfriend." Dorin grinned.
"Oh yeah." Taylor threw up his arms in frustration. "Oh yeah? What am I
household news?" "It's okay Taylor. I would just say later and see her when she
gets home. And make sure you have something really romantic planned when she gets
back. " Dorin walked around Taylor, and yelled out the front door at his
brothers. "Great. Now everyone but me knows what I did." He continued into
the kitchen, and saw mercy standing at the sink. He hurried up to her as he noticed
her eyes were red from tears and she was blowing her nose. "Mey are you
okay?" She sniffed, and blew her nose once more. "I hate you Jordan Taylor
Hanson. More then I did when I met you." He sighed. "Take a number. Why
now. I thought you hated me for being blond and looking like a girl. There can't be
anything worse then that." "You suck." "Thank you. I appreciate…that. Umm.
Why?" "You just do. You never say I love you anymore. And it's like you don't
care." Taylor wrapped his arms around her. "I didn't know I was supposed to
start and end my conversations with I love you."She started crying again as Jeremy
walked into the kitchen. Her back was facing her brother but he didn't leave. "You
aren't." Taylor was watching as Jeremy mouthed to him. "Awwww. Sweet. It's
a couple thing. So sweet. I feel it. Can you feel the love?" Jeremy continued his
words as Dorin stepped in and pulled him out. "Well Mey…" She rested her
head on his shoulder. "Mey come on." Dorin stood in the kitchen, trying not to
look at the two, but still trying to get her to wrap up her tears and save them for when
they got back. She let Taylor go, and he held her at arms length. "Are you
okay?" She wiped the tears away from her face and nodded. "We'll talk when
you get back okay?" She nodded again. "Call me?" He smiled as she nodded
one last time. "Kay, well I'll talk to you soon then." She turned around and
walked out of the kitchen. Taylor looked at Dorin. "Can someone PLEASE tell
me what I did?" Zac looked
on as a group of girls followed them to their boarding doc. There weren't nearly as
many as he had seen Hanson with, but there were still enough to know that they had
female fans. "Did you ever think that maybe they were at the loading doc just down
there." Mercy shoved Zac hard enough he came close to venturing outside the
comfort of a guard. "We aren't that popular are we?" "No Einstein, those girls
are following the people in front of us." He frowned as his sister moved
foreward. They reached the gate, only to find the plane wasn't ready. They
unloaded their bags at the counter, and sat by the window. Zac sat on the end, and
found his guard was much too far away. Grabbing his pant leg he tugged. "Over
here please, yes yes, right there. Zac admires his life as a drummer." The guard
didn't say anything but stood where he had been directed. "What's the matter with
the plane." Jeremy was looking through a magazine. "They're cleaning it or
something. Maybe it's baggage. Well would you tell them I want to get on the plane.
There's that girl over there that’s staring at me Jem and she's making me
nervous." Jeremy looked up to notice that one girl had changed to three and he
laughed. "You've got a Tulsa Airport fan club Zac!" "See look at me Jem, I'm
laughing. Really I am, it was funny it really was." Zac turned around to look out the
window as the girls laughed. He looked over at Jeremy. "Are they looking at my
butt? They have no right to be looking at my butt. It's my butt. Hear me! Mine! Don't
look at it you girls!" He turned back around glaring at his guards pant leg. A
stewardess from on board walked off the ramp and started talking to the
clerks. She pointed in their direction and walked to them. "If you guys want to
grab your bags you can go ahead and get on. We won't be leaving for a good forty five
minutes though." She smiled as the four of them stood, and walked to their
bags. "Anything to get those girls' eyes off my butt." The stewardess chuckled,
leading the way onto the plane. They found themselves seated and relaxed when the
first of the passengers began boarding. "Cool. A plane. We need to do something
sporadical. Like….shoot spit wads. Are we allowed to do that here?" Jeremy
reached over to pull Zac down. "No spit wads. No paper airplanes. You sit, eat and
when we get there you get off." "How come we aren't flying first
class?" "Because we don't need to. We're fine back here." "What if I want to
ride first class." "Too bad for your butt." "Aww. Poor butt. Those girls are
going to be devastated that it's being treated like this."
"Aren't you going to go say bye to
Mey?"
Zac held the 400-dollar plane ticket in his hand. So D had
shown through. Been a friend. Now Zac wouldn't have to stay in this town with his
parents and his brothers. It was a beautiful thing. And they wouldn't even know he was
gone until he was already there.
Isaac had a way of making you
feel bad in an off-handed way, therefore, Taylor had ended up in his car, driving over
to Mercy's house.
"How did these people find this stuff out?"
