"Hi Taylor. Uh, can I talk to Ike for a minute?" Jeremy
tapped his foot as he waited. "Hey Ike. I got a little good and bad news for
you." "What do you mean." "What would you like first, the good news, or the
bad news." There was a pause. "The bad news." "The bad news is your
brother just got chewed out by Dorin, and he's locked in my little brother's room and
they don't show signs of coming out, and your brothers in New York, the good news
of course would be that we found your brother." There was a long silence before
Isaac spoke. "Zac is IN New York?" "Yup. And I have an odd feeling he's not
the same Zac Hanson he was when he got here." "What happened?" "Lets just
say he and Dorin had a little heart to heart." "Is he alright?" "Punch you?
"Oh yes. It now seems to be my fault." "Your fault?" "Oh, sorry I didn't
explain. It's my fault they got caught doing drugs." Isaac sighed. "He's there
with you? In your room?" "Actually in Zac's room,, but yes, he's here." Isaac
made a sort of coughing sound. "Can I talk to him?" "Let me see if either of
them will unlock the door." Jeremy set down the phone and walked to the door of
his brother's room. "Open the door." "Fuck you!" "Open the
door." "Maybe you didn't hear me the first time." "At least pick up the phone
and hand it to Zac H." There was a pause and Jeremy's younger brother yelled
back. "Done. Now go the fuck away." Jeremy frowned and walked back to the
phone. "Kay Ike. Talk to ya later." He hung up the phone and crossed his hands
in front of him. "Well Mey. Looks like this is falling to hell." "You have to. Mom and dad will be here tomorrow." "Fuck
mom and da…." "Watch your language Zac! That's our parents your talking about
and they are the last people I will let you insult like that." "I haven't insulted
anyone." "You have too." "Like who." "Me for one. Taylor, Dorin." "I
didn't insult anyone." "Bullshit you didn't." "How so!" "Think about it Zac.
You’re a smart kid. You'll figure it out." "Oh god!" Zac yelled into the
phone. "You have to come home." "I'm not." "You are. And you're coming
home if I have to come and get you." Zac stomped his foot. "God I hate
you!" Isaac paused. When he spoke again, his voice quavered. "I really
hope you don't mean that." Zac was about to respond when he heard the dial
tone. Hanging up the phone he looked at his friend. "I just made a really big
mistake." Mercy and Jeremy stood at the
door, lightly tapping on it and putting their ears to it. "I know you're not asleep in
there Door. I want to talk to you." Mercy sighed as there was still no
answer. "God damnit. That kid causes more problems in this family." Jeremy
turned to her. "So." She scowled at him. "So what. If he would just fucking
straighten out and clean up, maybe watch what he says occasionally, things we be
different around here." "Your right. Things would be different. But they aren't. So
that means we have to live with them the way they are, and you still have to love him
even though he does cause problems." Jeremy turned back to the door and began
knocking again. "Come on Dorin. I just want to talk to you a little.
Please!" They heard the bed creak, and waited for the door to open. Dorin's
tired face appeared, and he stood there, still holding the door. Jeremy
sighed. "Door it's okay." Jeremy walked to his brother and embraced him in a
hug. "It'll work out. Things will be cool." Jeremy let go and his sister walked to
Dorin and hugged him too. "We'll get home after all this and be a family again. It'll
be better when we get home." Dorin nodded. "Where are they." Jeremy
nodded towards the door. "In Zac's room. Not coming out. I haven't heard any
sounds of beds being pulled apart and holes being knocked in the walls, so I'm not too
worried." Dorin shook his head. "Did you talk to Isaac?" Jeremy smiled.
"Got a hold of him and told him everything." "And?" "And he says Zac
needs to come home." "Got any plans?" Zac Hanson squeezed his eyes shut as a tear trickled down his
cheek. "Han! It'll be fine. You'll stay here. I'm staying here. The least we can do is
stay together. I don’t want to go home any more then you do. We'll be okay." Zac
Hanson started to cry. "It's not that Zac! It has nothing to do with staying or
leaving. No matter when I go home, it doesn't matter. Ike is mad at me. I can't ever go
home." He sobbed. Zac Dentra looked around the room. Comforting a crying
sister was one thing, but your best friend was completely different. "Zac don't cry.
It'll be okay. We'll get this worked out." His friend fell back on the bed, letting out
more tears. "Prove it!" From there
they would pretty much stay in the hotel room, going to interviews or shows only
when they were scheduled. Not going anywhere but there, the store, and the hotel 5
star restaurant. Both of the Zac's had stayed together, refusing to allow Zac
Hanson to leave, and turning down Isaac's phone calls. There really hadn't been any
other choice. In order to get Zac home Isaac, or their parents would have to force him
by flying to New York and physically removing him. Isaac had convinced their parents
that Zac was in New York for fun, and the Dentras had brought him there just for that
purpose. "Next show is Mtv live." "I'm aware of that." Mercy went back to
eating. Ever since Saturday Dorin had sort of, collected and stayed to himself. Hadn't
talked much to either her or Jem, and when they had been scheduled to go the Rosie
show, had said absolutly nothing to Zac. Their tension had to be seen by fans and the
general public, but neither Zac or Dorin really seemed to care much. "What time do
we have to be there tomorrow?" "Two." It was now Wednesday, and they were
scheduled for Mtv live Thursday. "It'll be fun." "If you say so." Dorin stayed
contently reading his newspaper. Not once looking up, the only movements he made
were those to put another bite in his mouth or to lift his coffee. "Are you excited
to meet Carson?" "Not really." Mercy tried attempt after attempt to get her
brother to speak in more then fragments. "You know how we were going to stay
an extra week in New York after all the shows?" "Of course I know." "Are we
still going to?" For the first time Dorin looked up from his reading. "Doubtful.
No wait, let me re phrase that. No." Mercy sighed. So the whole trip hadn't been
just for them to be on tv, and on radio, it was to go shopping, and have a good time,
and now that was ruined too. "Why not. I didn't do anything wrong." "Well.
You have Zac to blame then. Anyway, we wouldn't want Zac Hanson to be any later
then he already is." Mercy frowned. "What do you mean?" "Well it seems
that I'm just not trying my hardest to get the damn kid home. I need to try
harder." "Did Ike say that to you?" Dorin shrugged. "To that affect
yes." Mercy sighed. "That's too bad." "Yes it is. Wrap up. We need to get
going." "Shut up
D! I'm watching." "Don't tell me to shut up." The two sat in front of the
television, munching on snacks they had somehow managed to get the bell boy to bring
up. "This movie is kinda dumb." "Kinda?" As they sat and watched, the
door to the room opened, and a very stern Dorin entered. "Turn down the volume
on that and do it now." Zac Hanson looked to his friend questioningly. He didn't
move. Walking to the television Dorin grabbed the clicker from his brother. "I
meant it." Turning it off and taking the remote with him, he left, walking to his
room. "Fuck that." Zac turned to his friend and shrugged. "Off to my room
once again. Scattered 'great's' and 'fines'
were heard. "I hear you guys have been working on a new album? Or was that just
a rumor." "I think that's just a rumor." Zac shrugged and sat back again. "So
what have you guys been up to lately?" Mercy sat foreward. "Well, here in New
York. When we get home we're going to get to work on some new material though.
And maybe in the fall or winter there will be a new album. We were actually thinking
about a tour even." Carson raised an eyebrow. "A tour? You guys are going to
tour?" "We're thinking about it. It's something that could happen." "Wow. Well
I'll tell you a lot of your fans would probably love you for that." Mercy
smiled. "It would be fun." Carson looked at the camera. "Well when we
come back we'll hear a little more from the members of Who's What, and we'll take a
look at their plans for the rest of this year." The camera man counted down and
signaled a commercial break. "A tour eh? Sounds like you guys have been
thinking." Mercy shrugged. "That was just a thought though, we haven't really
made any decisions." Carson looked over at Zac. Leaning closer to the female
singer he whispered. "It looks like something is eating him. Got a clue?" Mercy
frowned. "It's a long story. One of those personal ones that we don't share with the
whole world." Carson sat back, nodding. "Your very blunt aren't
you." "Only when it comes down to the neccesary." "It went fine." Zac looked out the window of the travel van and watched
as the fans waved. They always seemed to find their car. No matter what, it was
like a leak in security or something. He looked up to the front of the car. "Only
two more interviews til we go home. Not very many." Dorin looked at his
sister. "I know." "You sure you don't want to stay?" "I thought I made
myself clear when I said no."
"I'm not
coming home."
"Dorin. Open the door please."
"I can't! I can't go home now!
Not after what I just said! Zac I have NO friends now! Not even my own
brother!"
The days plans had been ruined, and the fact of
the matter the entire month trip's plans had been somewhat massacred.
"Ha ha ha! That was the funniest thing I've ever seen."
"So how are you guys doin'?"
"I think it went
well."
