Princes Do A Not-Quite-Full Monty

LONDON (Reuters) - Prince Charles' teenage sons did a "Full Monty" striptease at their father's 50th birthday party but didn't quite go all the way, the Sun tabloid reported. Princes William, 16, and Harry, 14, played out a scene from the British hit film about male strippers as festivities continued until 3 a.m. Sunday following amore formal party for Charles at his Highgrove country estate, the paper said.

"They danced, swayed and swaggered to Hot Chocolate's song 'You Sexy Thing,' which features in the film," the paper said.

"And they burst into fits of laughter as they whipped off their shirts and unbuttoned their trousers. But unlike the movie's stars, they stopped there."

Following are excerpts from and article found on AOL UK By Mike Brownhill and Andrew Woodcock, PA News

"The Prince of Wales and Camilla Parker Bowles danced together in the early hours of this morning at the culmination of a 50th birthday party which had effectively established Charles' mistress as his official consort.

Radiant Camilla looked every inch the hostess when she arrived at the Prince's Gloucestershire home Highgrove yesterday, and she was by Charles' side throughout the party.

Wearing an emerald green velvet dress with a family heirloom jewelled necklace and earrings, she was beaming with happiness as her car drove into the estate shortly before the arrival of the first guests.

She and Charles stood side by side to greet abound 250 invitees, among them showbiz stars, politicians and members of several European royal families - who gave their seal of approval to the couple's relationship with their attendance."

"The British royal family was represented by Princess Margaret, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the Duke and Duchess of Kent, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and Princess Alexandra.

Charles' own sons, William and Harry, were among the first to arrive, with William dressed in trendy combat gear as he was driven in to Highgrove at about 6pm. "

"Highlights of the night included sketches by comedians Stephen Fry, Rowan Atkinson and Rory Bremner and a sumptuous meal prepared by Charles' favourite chef, Anton Mosimann.

Mosimann, helped by a team of 20, served up a Scottish smoked salmon starter, followed by Welsh lamb with organic vegetables from the Highgrove estate and a raspberry dessert. He also prepared what he described as "a very special cake for his 50th birthday".

As guests arrived, they were greeted by a harpist, opera singers and string ensembles, but once the formal part of the evening was over, it was the disco sounds of the 1970s which finished the night off.

Reports suggested that Charles and Camilla stepped on to the dance-floor in the flower-decked Orchard Room to a ripple of applause, as they started off the dancing to an Abba hit.

Among the guests who partied until about 1.30am were King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia of Spain, King Harald and Queen Sonja of Norway, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark and King Constantine of Greece.

Mrs Parker Bowles' children Tom and Laura and their father Andrew - Camilla's former husband - were also there.

Others on the guest list included broadcaster Sir David Frost, Trade and Industry Secretary Peter Mandelson, writers Ian Curteis and Joanna Trollope, footballer Vinnie Jones, MP Nicholas Soames and ex-Spice Girl Geri Halliwell.

Prince Edward's girlfriend, Sophie Rees-Jones, mingled with Saturday morning shoppers in Tetbury, the town nearest to Highgrove, but it is not known whether she attended the party. "

Prince Charles' 50th Birthday
For three consecutive days this fall, Prince Charles, who turns 50 on Nov. 14, will be quite the party animal. Although he was treated to an early birthday bash by his sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, at Highgrove, their family estate, I'm told that three more shindigs are in the works: On Nov. 12, Charles will attend a Hampton Court Palace gala; on Friday the 13th, Queen Elizabeth will throw a soirée for hundreds of her son's closest mates at Buckingham Palace; and on Saturday, he will celebrate quietly with a private dinner for those nearest and dearest, including Camilla Parker Bowles.

Harry went off to join William at Eton Colloage on September 2. To know more, read the following article from People Online :

Wills Summer Vacation:
On August 4, Charles Wills, & Harry flew to Greece to spend a ten day vacation aborad a yact, touring the Greek Islands. Charles had to charter two flights, one for Harry and himself, and since there's the whole rule about how two heirs can't fly on the same plane, a separate private jet for Wills.
After the cruise, Wills and Harry will spend the rest of August in Balmoral, Scotland at the Balmoral Estate.

Here are bits and pieces of an article about Willliam and Harry in Journal:

Sevral months ago Princes William and Harry returned to the apartment at Kensington Palace, in London, where they used to live with their mother, Diana Princess of Wales. It was their second visit to their former home since her death on August 31, 1997. As the black font door was opened bty Diana's long time butler, Paul Burrell, both boys knew it would be the last time they would see the rooms that held so many of their happiest childhood memories. Prince Harry hugged the butler. William shookhis hand. They walked around pointing at what they would keep as momentos of their mother. Harry was at times in tears

Prince William has always been quite different then what the public imagines him to be. Because he looks uncannily like Diana, it has simply been assumed that he is like her emotionally as well--sensitive, open and vulnerable. But, in fact, he what his mother always knew him to be: not so much a volitile Specer as a disciplined member of the House of Windsor. William, who turned 16 on June 21, is much more like his father, Prince Charles: controlled, studied in his manner and never likely to let his feelings show. William has been Harry's comfort and guide, looking after his kid brother. Harry, for his part, is said to feel safe when they are together.

While other thirteen-year-olds have dicovered girls, Harry is still happiest kicking a football around with his pals. Until Diana's death, he was the happy-go-lucky brother. At times, he still is that way. But the Royal Family has noticed that he has lost his ceasless bounce and appetite for fun. He spends much more time deep on thought and great efforts are being made by those around him to list his spirts. At Ludgrove, the preparatory school Harry attended, his classmates were also extraordinarily kind and relying round him. "Everyone has certainly done their best to help out," says headmaster Gerald Barber, who with his wife, Janent, has always watched closley over Harry. Since last September, they have sheparded Harry with a personal closeness that has earned them Charles' gratitude.

It was on the Canadian trip that William discovered his pop-tar good looks mean. Everywhere he went, he was greeted by thousands of adoring, shreiking girls. Outwardly, the young Prince reacted with calm to all the clamor. But I am told he was horrified by the idea that he will have to put up with this kind of attention for years to come. In this respect, he is certainly like his mother, who's global image was that of an enthusiasstic fashion icon, but who privately often dreaded having to dresss up for big occasions. At the same time, Diana loved showing off her sons. She got a graeat deal of personal pleasure from introducing then to things they would have seen only through the windows of a limousine if not for her influence.

Frankly, in the past year, Earl Spencer, who lives in South Africa, has had little hand in bringing up William and Harry, although he does telephone frequently. William hass been seen hunting with his uncle at Althorp, the Specer family estate in Northamptonshire, England. Althorp is a special place for both William and Harry, as their mother is buried their. IT has open to the public all summer, and approximately 152,000 visitors-paying abput $16 apiece- can see the eighteen-foot-high memorial urn that marks Diana's gravesite. The boys' aunts have also made an effort to stay involved on their lives. For Harry's thirteenth birthday, Lady Sarah McCorquodale, the eldest of the Specer sisters, gave him the Sony PlayStation the Diana had been planning to give him. And Jane, who is married to the Queen's private secratary, Sir Robert Fellowes has driven regularly to Ludgrovve from her home in Kensington Palace to watch Harry play soccer

What William and Harry have been through on the last year encompasses an entire range of human emotion, and the anniversary of their mother's tragic death is bound to reopen the wounds. Shrewdly, Charles has eased his sons towards this difficult day by becomong more informal in his parenting style. At the same time, the entire Royal Family has discovered a warmth toward Diana in death not they never displayed when she was alive. As a senior Buckingham Palace cortier and longtime Diana loyalist told me: "the way the princess has been literally drawn back into the bosom of the family since her death has already been a tremendous help to the boys. It is ironic that while she was alive, the boys-especially William-were aware that their mother was somehow apart from the rest of the Royal Family. But now she is apart of the family again." For her sons' sake at least Diana would be glad.
