The L.I.F.E. Academy of Home Learning
HELLO AND WELCOME to the L.I.F.E. Academy of Home Learning! Learning Is Fun & Exciting!
We are so glad you were able to come for a tour of our facilities today! Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Deborah Kloeppel, and I am the main instructor here at the Academy.
During our tour you will learn a little bit about each of our unique students and their interests. When the tour is finished we hope that you will accept their invitations to step into their special worlds to visit and participate in their fun and exciting learning adventures. I just can't wait to show you around, so if you are ready, let's go!
The Hallway of L.I.F.E.
Visit Heather's Digs--Heather is an archaeologist, researcher, and detective. This is where she does most of her work. Currently her main topics of interest include archaeology in Lands of Biblical Importance, Native American, Mayan, and Aztec Cultures, and Paleontology. If you are planning a visit to Heather's Digs, you may want to bring your sun glasses, plenty of sunscreen, and your hiking boots. And come prepared to travel backwards in time!
Kirsten's Water Park and Aquarium--UNDER CONSTRUCTION!! If you like to have fun in the water and you like to learn about creatures that live in the water, then you will have a great time visiting Kirsten's Water Park and Aquarium. She likes fish and dolphins, whales and sea shells. Follow Kirsten's water safety tips and have a fun and safe time in any water you like to play in, from the tub to the great oceans. You will learn a lot during a visit to Kirsten's Water Park, and you don't even have to get your feet wet!!
Fallon's Zoological Park and Gardens--WARNING!!! Use Caution when entering Fallon's Zoo and Gardens!!!You never know what kinds of plants and wild animals will be on the loose in Fallon's Zoo! Do you feel the ground shaking?? Let me take a peek inside and see what is going on in here! WOE!!! That charging elephant was going fast! If you would like to know how fast a charging elephant can go, be sure to visit Fallon's Zoo and Gardens and stop by the Elephant Exhibit to learn more about this gentle giant. If elephants aren't your thing, there are plenty of other things going on in Fallon's Zoo. Enjoy your visit and be sure to close the door securely when you leave or one of Fallon's friendly creatures might decide to follow YOU home!
Nathaniel's Garage--UNDER CONSTRUCTION! This room houses the Indoor Mud Puddle, full of fun, interesting, and usually messy craft projects that you can enjoy on rainy days. Go out the back door and into the alley to find Nathaniel's Garage. If it has wheeles, makes noise, and gets dirty, Nathaniel can probably tell you where to learn more about it!
If having fun outside is in your plans, join Nathaniel in the Outdoor Mud Puddle and see what kind of gooey, slimey, messy fun he has waiting for you today! Don't wear your good clothes here, and be sure to stop at the front desk on your way in to pick up your virtual hard hat! You never know what lies in store for you when you take a trip to Nathaniel's Garage!
Austin's Butterfly Net--Step into Austin's world and you will discover that he catches a lot more than just butterflies in his net! If you can stand it, visit Austin and let him amaze you with information about the tiny creatures in the world of insects. There is a lot of interesting things to learn about bugs. Did you know that many bugs are helpful to man? Find out about some of them, as well as about harmful bugs, pretty bugs, and yucky bugs! You might be itchy when you leave, but you will have a lot more bug facts crawling about in your brain!
The Library of L.I.F.E.--A visit to our library here at the L.I.F.E. Academy will supply you with many resources to help you learn more about many subjects. At first you might think that the lists are short because they contain only four or five references each, but that is only the beginning! If you like what you see and want to learn more, just send an e-mail to our librarian and she will send you the file you need. For more details, come and see our library for yourself.
Reading for L.I.F.E.--This area is still under construction. When it is completed it will house book reviews done by the students of L.I.F.E. and reviews sent in by others who would like to participate in this project. To find out how you can submit your book reviews, send an e-mail to me, Deborah Kloeppel, Main Instructor at L.I.F.E., and I will give you all of the details! It's easy.
NOW OPEN!!
Parents' Lounge--We are building an addition onto the Academy! When it has been completed we plan to fill it to the brim with great help sources for parents! Some of the items you will find here will include homework help pages, links to sites devoted to helping those with special needs and/or learning disabilites develop to their fullest potential, and ideas, tips, information, and suggestions to aid all parents, whether their children attend a traditional school or homeschool, to make learning more fun and exciting for their children!
NOW OPEN!!
- Well, that completes our tour of the facilities here at The L.I.F.E. Academy of Home Learning. Feel free to look around and participate in any of the activities that you see going on in the various rooms we have passed. We hope that your visit to the L.I.F.E. Academy has made your learning experiences more fun and exciting as well! Come back and see us again soon.
A Special Treat
A newly published author has a book available through the link below. The book is entitled Secret Jealousy. It is a mystery story for children ages 9 - 12.
At first it may not seem that noteworthy to mention a new author with a book available, but when you consider that this author is a homeschool student just 16 years old, it is remarkable! This is the first book in a series called Kid Detectives being written by young author Misty Henson! Follow the link to Otter Creek Publishing Company and find out more about this book and many other great books for children.
Congratulations to Misty Henson! Way to go!!
