Joseph Sydebotham was born in England between 1756-1780. He married his wife Elizabeth in about 1790. Elizabeth was born in England in about 1769/70. Joseph and Elizabeth had at least eight children.A recent discovery of the Family Record, Genealogy and Diary of their son Isaac indicates that the family probably emigrated to the United States in 1822. Joseph and Elizabeth settled in Frederick County, Virginia. Their son, Isaac, settled in Baltimore, Maryland.
Joseph and Elizabeth remained in Virginia. Joseph Sydebotham died in 1849. On August 25, 1850, when the census was taken, Elizabeth was living in Frederick County, Virginia. Her sons, Joseph, Richard and Samuel, all apparently unmarried, were living at home with their mother. Elizabeth died sometime between the 1850-1860 census.
