The Ten Commandments

Jesus also spoke of the 10 commandments. It is necessary to keep the 10 commandments close to your heart, and try to live by them as much as you can. Jesus, and God both realize that you are human and not perfect, so, they do not expect you to be them, but they expect you to be as close to them as you can be. If you look at the way the ten commandments are written, and you think about an eternity, would you want to spend that much time with someone who wasn't like them? If you lived with someone who stole, or lied, or committed adultery on you, it would be very difficult to deal with them for your life time, much less an eternity. God just wants to find people who want to live an eternity. He knows that you will not measure up to what He wants, but if you do your best and please Him, remember that He has the power to make you into what He wants you to be.

The 10 Commandments in the Bible

You shall have no other gods besides me.

You shall not worship any idol.

You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God.

Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.

Honor your father and your mother.

You shall not murder.

You shall not commit adultery.

You shall not steal.

You shall not give false testimony.

You shall not covet anything that is your neighbor's.

(Paraphrased from Exodus 20:3-17)
