The Anniversary
On this the 10th anniversary
Of man's horrific deed;
Let's offer forgiveness,
God can plant the seed.
Many died that day,
As the towers, they imploded;
Sadness, sorrow and tears
In all of us exploded.
We couldn't believe the horror,
We couldn't believe the sight;
But now wounds are healing,
And for freedom we still fight.
As heroes fought to crash
A plane in an open field,
To our Lord we prayed,
Our hearts and souls we'd yield.
In the nation's pentagon,
More destruction was seen;
We didn't know one so cruel,
We didn't know one so mean.
Yes, time and our good Lord
Have helped us heal and mend;
But our fight for freedom,
It may never end.
We pray for those left behind,
The families, girls and boys;
May they once again know peace,
May they once again know joy.
