Unexpected delights fill all of my days,
The white Easter lily this year blooms pink;
The escaping neighbor's dog runs to me,
The beauty God shares is what makes me think.
My morning coffee tastes just right,
A neighbor stops by for a chat;
My son generously buys me a tea,
Life's little joys are where it's at.
The fern I thought I'd never have,
Shows up in the hand of a friend;
The laughter of grandchildren and great-grandchildren,
Bring happiness that will never end.
A cool breeze on a hot summer day,
Blows away the sticky humidity;
God gently whispers in my ear,
Look closely, do you see?
Unexpected delights are little things in life,
The encouragement of a friend or a hug;
God sends these things on special wings,
To make us smile, heartstrings tug.
