Down deep
an ember glows,
Where once a fire did rage;
It sends warmth to my soul,
Companionship's the wage.
I don't need a burning love,
But one that's really strong;
One that tolerates my stubbornness,
And all that I do wrong.
This brand new man in my life,
Was once the man I wed;
Life's pain tore us apart,
My soul was never fed.
Much has changed in our lives,
We both have grown so much;
Are we ready for this life,
Ready for love's touch.
I couldn't survive that pain again,
I'm running scared I know;
But the warmth of this ember,
Puts in my heart a glow.
Time will bring answers,
If it is meant to be;
Someday we may find again,
The love we used to see.
