The Fight for Freedom

Today we celebrate freedom
The road to it was hard;
We fought the Revolution
With Washington on Guard.

But freedom is hard won,
Again we would have to fight;
This time against our countrymen,
But the Civil War was right.

Our battle cry was heard,
In World War I we took a stand;
That freedom was for all,
And not just for our land.

A sleeping giant was awakened,
When Pearl Harbor was hit with fire;
In World War II our men fought,
Freedom was their desire.

The battles never seem to end,
Korea, Vietnam and now Iraq,
But freedom is worth fighting for,
And, we will never turn our back.

Our forefathers signed a declaration,
This land was built on God's law;
And we will continue to fight,
For equality and freedom for all.
