The Price He Paid

greatest holiday

Crown of Thorns

Valentine's Day has come and gone,
St. Patrick's Day is past;
And now the greatest holiday
Will come to us at last.

Gethsemane was a garden,
A quiet place to pray;
But on the outer edges,
A mob, on Jesus hands to lay.

They would whip Him and beat Him,
And say vile and ugly things;
I'm sure they didn't believe,
They were addressing a great king.

they placed a crown upon His head,
But it was made of thorns;
He carried a heavy cross,
Though His back was bruised and torn.

They nailed Him to that cross,
Oh, how my soul cries in pain,
To know my precious Lord,
For my sins, He was slain.

But oh! On the third day,
The sun rose on an empty grave,
Jesus has conquered death,
Now we could choose to be saved.

My Lord and my Savior,
Paid a hefty price for my soul;
So now I follow Him,
And try to do what I am told.
