The Lord didn't know
What else the world needed;
But to all of our prayers,
He listened and heeded.

Then, in a young girl,
He finally saw;
What the world clamored for
Was a mother-in-law.

So, a husband He gave her,
To carry the day;
To love her and guide her,
And show her His way.

But of all the gifts
On her he bestowed;
The one that she treasured
And set her aglow.....

Was the woman he brought,
Into her life;
The woman who was
His father's wife.

And the girl became
A daughter-in-law;
The woman she loved
Was her mother-in-law.

So to you, Mom,
This ode I did write;
For, to my world,
You brought precious light.

When I'm old,
And can see not at all;
I'll have sweet memories,
Of my mother-in-law.

When I first married, my mother-in-law and I had a few rough months but then we grew to
love each other very much. We spent many times together talking and laughing. She taught
me all about my husband's family.
