Katrina, Katrina,
What have you done;
You destroyed it all,
Killed more than one.
You wiped out the seaboard,
Took everyone's home;
Playing and cavorting,
Like some big gnome.
You have changed lives,
You destroyed a town;
New Orleans is gone,
You ruined her gown.
Children cry in the streets,
With hunger and pain;
With a monster like you,
Our country has lain.
Gulfport, Biloxi and others
Suffered your might;
How can we help them
Get through the nights?
People are moving out,
To leave the stench;
But they will return
With hammer and wrench.
The towns will once again grow,
As owners rebuild;
The streets once again,
With laughter will fill.
Katrina, Katrina,
What have you done;
You have destroyed all,
But you have not won.
