Sometimes the day is black,
But then I turn to God;
Light fills my soul,
Where despairing thoughts had trod.
When pain racks my body,
I then turn to the Lord;
Light fills my soul,
I find I'm not so sore.
Precious gifts come my way,
I'm thankful for all these;
Light fills my soul,
It's God I want to please.
Often I sin against My Lord,
And I'm filled with a deep sorrow;
Light fills my soul,
His mercy doesn't wait for tomorrow.
I sing praises to God,
I'm filled with peace from Him;
Light fills my soul,
Joy fills me to the brim.
