Memorial Day

On this day we remember,
Those who have gone before;
They are with our Lord,
And await us at the door.

Maybe you remember a father,
Who threw you high in the air;
Or maybe it's a mother,
Who was forever fair.

A favored uncle, a special niece,
Someone close to your heart;
It matters not the person,
But on your life, they left their mark.

We think of soldiers and sailors,
And the battles they have fought;
We think of our freedoms,
With lives these were bought.

Memorial Day is a special time
For remembering loved and gone;
But remember they're in a better place,
And we will join them in a new dawn.
