There
once was a man I loved,
But alcohol took over
his life;
And one day I realized
I could no longer be
his wife.
For years I prayed
for help,
I wanted the Lord to
tend;
One day I got His message,
The marriage would
have to end.
Even though it hurt
down deep,
I had to obey God's
will,
He said that He'd be
with me,
And, believe me, He's
with me still.
Now this man is quite
a man,
His life he turned
around;
He is now a great father,
His children he has
found.
He has grown to be
strong,
Stronger than I, I
will admit;
His love shines in
his eyes,
For our family, he's
a fit.
Right now he is my
friend,
A man I can admire,
Only God knows the
future,
Will an old flame become
a fire?
I have not the answers,
But this I know is
true;
He isn't the man I
married,
He's a man that's brand
new.
