There are crosses that hang in my house,
To remind me of the old rugged cross;
I never want to forget the pain and suffering,
That brought me peace and not loss.
Jesus hung on the old rugged cross,
With all my sins laid on His back;
He loves me so He wanted me free,
And no goodness do I lack.
On that day, Jesus bought me freedom and joy,
He bought me eternal life;
His blood washed away my sins,
And gave me strength for strife.
Jesus is a king though He lived as a slave,
He brought us goodness and hope;
He brought us a new path to follow,
Because He still lives, we can cope.
That old rugged cross is beautiful to me,
Jesus died and set me free;
He was raised again in three days,
And when I die, His face I will see.
