Saved By the Blood
I've been saved by the blood of Christ,
He gave it all for me;
It took a while to understand,
But love is behind it, now I see.
God's Son came to us as a babe,
He grew tall so He could teach;
He came to save us all from sin,
He wanted all of us to reach.
The price He paid was a horrid death,
He was beaten, scourged and crowned;
The thorns caused blood to run in His face,
But from Him we heard not a sound.
He dragged His cross up the hill,
Calvary was to be His place of death;
Soldiers nailed him to that cross,
Where He gave up His last breath.
But this isn't the end of the story,
For death did not defeat my Savior;
He has risen once again,
And established a new code of behavior.
If Jesus Christ could love me so,
When I so often sin;
Shouldn't I love my fellow man,
And forgive again and again.
Lord, the price You paid for me,
Was much more than I deserve;
So aid me now as I live each day,
I want only You to serve.
