On a summer afternoon,
When it is humid and hot;
I sit quietly and wonder,
And Jesus enters my thought.

Am I living as He desires?
Do I do what is right?
I love my Lord and Savior,
And want to do good in His sight.

Jesus died a painful death,
So I could live and be free;
I owe Him my life, my everything,
I pray this you can see.

On a summer afternoon,
When the heat makes me lazy;
I ponder all God's goodness,
Then all my troubles become hazy.

On a summer afternoon,
When it's too hot to play;
I can always read God's Word,
And see what He has to say.
