Lord, help me to like this teenage boy,
The one who breaks my heart;
There was only love and joy,
When he made his start.

I love this baby boy,
Even when he plays my mind;
I know he can be very good,
I know he is caring and kind.

Teenage boys so independent and strong,
Are a mother's cross to bear;
They don't need mom's hold anymore,
Her payment is just not fair.

But if I can stand by him a while,
A man he will grow to be,
The kind and good will surface more,
And my boy, he will once more be.

Independent and strong, a life he will build,
A life to make his mom proud;
And he will know his mother loves him,
She will shout it long and very loud.

I like to remember the good ole days when my son was a young boy and thought his mother was the most perfect person on earth. Now, it seems like all we do is argue. It is a struggle for power and sometimes I'm not sure I will make it through. I will be so glad when he has left these teen years behind and become a man. Hopefully, God and I can help him grow to be the kind of man the world needs.
